I spent 4 yrs in the service and we had random tests often. Is it possible to get away with it? Yes, but there is a zero tolerance policy. If you get caught there is no excuse or second chance. You get a dishonorable discharge and a one way ticket home. Then I imagine you would have an interesting time explaining to any future employer why you got kicked out of the military.

If you like to smoke and cannot commit to stopping for at least 4 years then don't do it.

i would counsel you to go to college man, if you have the means, college can provide you with an education that will take you where you want to go. its a means to an end my friend. plus, college is a wonderful place, trust me you dont want to be an old man when you come through these institutions...
...and nobody likes ptsd

Did my 4 years in the marines. Spent most of it in other countries mostly in asia. I smoked pot a few times when i had 30 days of leave but its not something you want to mess around with. My first year or two i continued to do all sorts of shit shrooms, x, lsd etc.. because they dont stay in system to long. But its really walking a tight rope. From what i learned they do not test every bottle of piss when they take a whole units. I would not take back that time for anything else now, at some times i hated it when i was in was a lot of bullshit but it really was the best thing for me and if i hadnt had shattered my ankle id prolly still be in. And as was said make sure you choose a job that you want to do afterwards really helps in this job market to have experience.

i just had to quit smoking because i am joining the coast guard and i have no clue when i will be going to meps for my drug testing and what not...better be safe than sorry...and besides...it is only 4 years...smoke afterwards because if you get caught while in the service it could really hinder your future and that is not worth the risk...marijuana will always be around

you are correct my friend. if i decide to join i WILL NOT smoke. simply because i am joining to better my future, and smoking while in the army puts my future at risk.

i would lve to keep reading all your stories and experiences from the army or military branch.
keep posting :bigjoint:

i know this shit was long time ago.
but im deciding on joining the navy...im a week away before i swear in but im having different thoughts about it. not because im not committed but because i've been researching exciting jobs in the navy and can't really fine any.

Can i just switch to the marines?
i mean they get to shoot the heavy artillery and get good training.

if theres anyone who's in the navy and could give great advice or knowledge i'd appreciate your 2 cents.

4 years in the marines , my advice is go in the air force learn a trade you can use in the outside world , artillery jobs are hard to find in my neighborhood

You can be a Hospital Corpsman (rating HM). They do duty with the Marine Corps as the Corps doesn't have their own medics. Best of both worlds IMO. ;-)
