This works the same way air cooled hoods do i think , blowing air onto the heatsinks immediately take a ton of the heat off of the unit like blowing air on a hot hps bulb. Whereas pulling air away from the heatsink would pull the heat off but also air from out the sides so you would be removing the heat in the air not at the source.I have noticed what a huge difference that makes on CPU temps. If you blow air into the heatsink you get lower temps versus sucking air from the heatsink.
