i had recently heard that adding ashes to you soil helps the plants. i am wondering if anyone has heard this or knows if this is just a rumor or is true?? i have been smoking and putting my ashes into my different pots, so far i havnt noticed any different good or bad

Its only carbon but will increase the acidity of your soil. There is potash in there which is the K in N-P-K.

ok so all in all it could help the plant? i was just worryed that it might harm them, thanks for the info tho

yes ash can help with nutrients and keep snails out but too much will fluctuate ph levels and will harm the plant

When you raise PH you reduce acidity. When you lower it, you increase it.
Lower pH=higher acidity. Higher pH=higher alkalinity:bigjoint:

The following diagram shows the pH scale and the pH of some common items:

This is incorrect

This is correct. I think you just misspoke in the first post. I knew what you meant but I didn't want some noob to think wood ashes would lower their pH because they will most definitely raise it. :weed:

well i am actually not talking about wood ashes, i was talking about ashes off what i smoke?

and what kind of wood ashes work the best or does it really matter about that

I don't know what cigarette ashes will do (or even weed ashes for that matter). I don't think it matters what kink of wood you use. :weed:
