I'd be interested to see the actual legal text, the above quote indicates that it is based on admittance, but that it is smoking AND holding a card, that is to say it must be both items, not just holding a card. But as i say, i'd rather see the legal wording not a news companies wording.
Although heck, i thought the part of the point of the right to guns was so you could tell your government to fuck off where it wasn't welcome such as trying to control every aspect of your life without just reason.

you can still buy one. just dont admit to using mj or having a MMJ card/dr's rec.
while i had an MMJ card i went down to a gunstore and bought a 12ga pump shotty and 2 whole boxes of hollow tip slugs and buckshots no problem.
just dont go in there with a pot leaf on your shirt or smelling of mj. simple really. i wouldn't worry about this too much as they cant do a background check and find you have a MMJ card unless you chose to be registered with your state or whatever. mine is strictly through my doctor so i know they can't find that out by doing a background check.

The only people that this can possibly effect are the ones that chose to go down and pay money to register with the county to get their name on a government list as someone that's willfully violating federal laws. I never understood this.
But the real point is, the Federal Government sees us a criminals, and is trying to deny us the Constitutional Right to keep and bear arms, simply because we use marijuana as recommended by a licensed physician.

Have you checked other news sites? Fox news is the WORST, they are usually full of BS. I remember hearing something crazy from fox, didnt hear it on any other station, then looked it up and found out it was BS.

The more I think about it, the more ridiculous it sounds to be quite honest. the biggest troublemakers when it comes to guns and marijuana is the rippers. they go around committing robberies (of delivery services/collectives, home invasions, etc) and thats fine. However those with legal (ok, at least under state guidelines) grow ops can't protect themselves from these intruders?
Im tired of living in a society where we protect the criminals & they can do whatever they want.
I remember hearing a story from a family friend telling me how once someone broke into someone's garage while they were on a short vacation and apparently got locked in the garage (the door he went in only opens from one side and the garage door was broken or something) and had to live for 3 days off dog food and room temp coke. Apparently he sued them for some mental torture bullshit and actually was granted $1,000,000. Aint that a bitch?
That's why these thieves do what they want.
I for one don't intend on putting my guns down. someone has to teach these fuks that they can't just do whatever they want.
the ATF is fucked in the head if they think gun sales to mj patients is a threat of any kind. the criminals are who you need to worry about. If they want something to do they could crack down on the illegal firearms trade rather than stopping those who are going into the gun dealers and registering the firearm in their name, etc. i'd be way more worried about the robber who bought his gun out of someones trunk than i would with someone who has their name attached to it

This has always been part of prop 215 if u grow u can't have guns on the grounds u guys r sad read the props/laws u try to hide behind. The atf is taking it a step further assuming every patient grows but that the feds for u. Comply or die also one of the feds favorite never the less u can't buy any good guns in CA anyways

I wasnt aware of this being in the 215 text. hmmm...if this is true then I say its a BS law/rule. If you own it legally (as in its registered to you) then it should be allowed. Medical or not mj is valuable. You should be allowed to protect yourself from thieves/robbers. It only makes sense.
I work in the firearm industry in California. Specificly there are about a 15 questions on form 4473 and one specifily asks if you "Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, or narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?" Regardless of what you believe if you answer yes, they are not going to be able to sell you a gun. I would think that if somebody had a MMJ card they are not unlawfully using and it does not matter because if they answer no to the above question the purchase will procede.
The ATF is known for speaking from strange orifices such as in the recent "fast and furious" scandal where they told gun shops to sell to specific people who would not pass background checks as part of a sting or something. What the atf was really doing was illegally arming mexican drug cartels with american guns to secretly trick the american people in passing stricter gun laws and give the ATF more power. That is a different subject but in the height of the scandal the ATF had the nerve to send a fact sheet to help spot criminals or terrorist when selling guns
