I'll be keeping track of my progress here. I'll add pictures when I have some along the way. I don't mind constructive criticism and/or real advice. I also don't mind positive comments, but nothing negative. If you have something negative to say then I don't want to read it so don't even bother. This journal is mainly for me to just keep track of my grow. I work with what I have access (soil, pots, etc.) to so if you notice I'm using something inferior it's most likely because it's all I can get. Feel free to suggest better options as maybe I missed something, but if I don't switch to your option don't criticize me for it.
First Grow 2010-2011
December 1st, 2010
I put 10 seeds on a wet paper towel, set them on a plate, and covered them with a bowel.
December 4th, 2010
7 of the 10 seeds sprouted out a root. I planted them in plastic red cups from Wal-Mart in Miracle Grow Moisture Control Soil and added a little bit of distilled water. I'm using 3 cheap 24" 17W Lights of America Grow Lights for the little seedlings.
December 9th, 2010
The little seedlings have been growing quickly and the cheap lights I'm using are working better than I thought they would. I add a small layer of soil to the cups each time the seedlings get an inch or so taller when I check on them. I don't know if I like the Moisture Control soil as it "controls" the moisture a little too well. I haven't watered them since December 4th, 2010 because the soil is still fairly damp and I don't want to over water them. I'll be on the lookout for some better soil (not much of a selection) before I transplant the seedlings. I also added an 8th seed that sprouted a root. It probably won't grow well since it's this slow already, but oh well.
