Attempt #2...New Strain, New Setup. GG#4, 600w, 2x4, Coco, DTW.

Hey there RIU!

My last grow didn't quit turn out the way I had hoped, I designed the tent and DWC buckets wrong and ended up losing the plants at about 4 weeks into flower. But I am back to try it again with a new strain and a different setup! I was fortunate enough to get 9 cuts of Gorilla Glue #4 from TheWhiteLotus, an icmag member who is part of the "glue crew" over there. Once they root I will be running 2 clones in two gallon smart pots filled with coco under a 600w in a 2x4 tent, drain to waste hydro and dyna-gro nutes. Just got the cuts into my aero cloner today so I will update again once they root.

I forgot to pH the water in my aero cloner when I first put it in yesterday, so around 10pm when I remembered, I went out and pH'd the reservoir. It read in the 8's when I first checked, I pH'd down to 5.8 and then when I checked 20 min ago it was at 7.0...any ideas for what would cause the rise overnight? I pH'd down to 5.7 and I will be checking on it every hour or two.

Checked pH...stable at 5.8. The cuts have been in the cloner for 2 days now...can't wait till they root!!

this part is the hardest to keep patient :p looking forward to seeing them all grown up!

i've never bothered adjusting the ph of my cloner water, just plain RO.

Ya it is! Hard indeed! and how long did it usually take for your clones to root? This is my first time using my aero cloner. :mrgreen:

Today marks day 5 in the cloner...

I believe that I'm starting to see indications of roots appearing (might be wishful thinking).

I think I am also seeing signs of pH fluctuation in some leaves (as it was fluctuating, now it's pretty stable at 5.9-6.0). I'm also seeing what I think is GG#4's trademark wrinkled leaf trait.

I am ready for these babies to root! Can't wait to get them in the tent!

Today is day 7 in the aero cloner. I can see that at least 4 of the cuts have a bunch of root nubs, while the others have a few beginning to appear. pH is stable at 6.0. Gonna let them stay in the cloner till they have atleast 1" long roots, then into a solo cup filled with coco. Can't wait! Its getting exciting!

I no longer use an aerocloner but I have used 24/7 when heat wasn't an issue. Sometimes the pump running nonstop in a small reservoir of water resulted in heat buildup so i went with 5 min on every 30 minutes. many different intervals will work, just so long as the stems are always kept moist and "fresh"

Ok cool. Heat isn't an issue so I have been running it 24/7, minus the few minutes I turn the pump off to check pH and look at the stems. I read somewhere that if you run the pump 24/7, the roots will tend to not "search" for sustenance so they won't establish quite as well if you have it on a timer. Did you ever run into this issue?

nah, and heres why I don't buy that. Even if the clones are always being watered, they will still be searching for nutrients to replenish the stores which were depleted during their rootless state. I've had equally impressive results either way!

Makes sense. I am running my tap water so there's a minimal amount of cal, mag, and other trace elements, but they were cut from plants ready to be flipped into flower, so they're accustomed to more nutes. Thanks for the confidence boost!

So it's been a minute since my last update, but things are getting good now. I finally transplanted the 9 clones on 11/15/14...I waited about a week longer than I wanted to but on the plus side, the roots on the clones were about 6-8" long.

^This is right after transplant on 11/15/14. I put the three with the biggest roots in the 2 gallon smart pots... the rest went into solo cups. I fed them 200ppm till I saw drainage.

^These two pics are from tonight. I've been feeding around 400-450ppm every 2-3 days. Gonna put the smart pots in the tent under the 600w MH this weekend. Probably gonna veg for a week or two and then flip. :bigjoint:Can't wait to see these Glue girls in action!!

So I ended up topping all my clones on 12/6/14 and putting the three in smart pots into the tent under the 600w on 12/8/14.Gonna have a new update w/ pics for you guys soon!
