ATTENTION NEWBIES!! It's not hard to start seeds!! CHECK IT

So for shits and giggles I threw like ten seeds in the soil when I was planting tulip bulbs outside then mixed up the soil to burry the seeds!

Then now this is what the pot looks like! Just from watering one time saturating the soil and haven't watered since!

This was a throw seeds and forget about them and they grew! It is super easy don't make it complicated! Also look how shitty the weather is here and they still grew with absolutely no attention!


Don't over complicate your seed starting phase!! Take a deep breath and relax and the babies will pop up, you don;t even have to soak the seeds so toss em in the soil saturate it and wait. They will grow if they are viable seeds.

So easy to start them :p Some people make it so complicated and make it seem impossible and go through seeds and dying seedlings

i agree, it's easy when it's outdoors.

I threw three seeds in one pot outside and they went great...untill i transplanted them and brought them indoors.

My first mistake was to seed them all in the one pot.
My second was to leave them in the pot too long (it was very stressfull on the plants when i seperated them with roots all tangled).
My third was watering too regularly once inside. I dont think i gave them any more water inside then out, but my impression is they need a lot less water in side

The result was i lost 2-3 sets of leaves on each. only now am i getting new growth from the lower nodes. The tops look awesome. Anyway, got new seeds going now, so i may start over.

I always germinate in the soil. I just put a viplock ove my cup to retain sone of the moisture and throw em under the cfl. Never had a seed not sprout. As long as you know how to pick em! :)

the paper towel method never fails me.plus its quicker than germinating in soil.plus you know what seeds are good and what seeds arnt.

Anywhere from 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch, You can barely cover them and they will sprout they just might n ot grab into the soil and end up growing on top of the soil

i favor the more natural method of putting them directly in soil. if you want you can soak them in a cup of water for a couple hours, just to get water to penetrate the shell and start the process. then i push them into the soil just till theyre level with the soil and let them be.

Newbie question: Which is better for the vitality of the plant? Starting in solo cups then transplant to 3 gal pots then transplant to 5 gal pots, or just starting from seed in the pot the plant will ultimately flower in?

starting the seed with the biggest pot you will use. the earth is a container without walls, and cannabis doesnt care about this.

the problem with big pots is that they take forever to dry out, so you will need to water once every ~month

Can a 3 gallon pot get the job done or do they end up restricting the roots when the plants mature?

Water once per month? So like 3 times the plant's whole life?

3-5 gallon. you have to judge if the soil is still wet or not by the weight of the container. its more difficult when you use big containers at first, but many people are capable of doing it this way. itll save time and energy from transplating as well

I use 3 gal. smartpots, with no problems. Much better than hard sided containers in my opinion. You want to learn how to "read" your plants, they will let you know when to water. Once you water your container pick it up and see how heavy it feels, take a mental note. When the container is light is when you water again. Smartpots due to air flow require more watering, which I personally don't mind at all. Good Luck
