Attitude Seeds: Seeds didn't Germ?

Ordered a large order from Attitude early last year. Finally got to germinating in the past couple of weeks.

A few of my seeds did not germ. What is the recourse on something like this? Wouldn't be a big deal but it was a couple of strains I really wanted and there was only 1 of each seed in the variety pack. It was GHS Arjans #3 and White Widow that did not germ. Both happened to be their color coated seeds.

The others I got from them germed just fine.

I doubt they will warrant seeds you bought "early last year". How did you store them, maybe that was part of the problem?

if only 3 out of 30 didn't pop I would just consider that my natural odds and move on without those 3

3 out of 30 isnt a bad rate at all. You may have wanted those 3 more than the others to germinate but that doesnt factor into natural odds.

Don't think its atitudes fault....I just got seeds two days ago from them an had %100 germination....could be technique or just bad luck...3 out of 30 is way good....just my newbie two cents

I have never had a problem with any strain germinating from GHS now I have had some strains germinate and be mutated like crazy including some from well respected breeders.

Still not sure why the hostility against GHS.

and like the human flame, FLAME ON!

I had a few duds with GHS, TH, and Cali Connections. No fault of the breeders. That's just how seeds are. The vast majority pop, a few seeds never sprout, and some sprout then die after a few days. Sometimes they sprout and grow, but develop weird leaf mutations or just grow up lacking any real vigor. On the flip side, sometimes you get lucky and you get a seed that sprouts up really fast, grows up more fuller and taller then all your other strains. That's evolution in a nut shell. Sometimes it works for you and other times it works against you.

I'm sure the way you stored them was fine. I have lots of seeds, not just cannabis, but seeds like carrots, lettuce, peas, etc. and I've stored them for several years without any problems. Also don't discount that it could have been grower's error. Anything from the method you used, to soil selection and how you watered can have an affect on your germination rate.

Lastly, you can use this phenomenon to your advantage. If your able to grow outside, try winter sowing a landrace or true-breeding strain (not a hybrid). Allow room for some to naturally die and breed the strains that thrive the best. The second generation will continue to be true-breeding like it's parents but with each generation they will become more acclimated to your region. Plus you get an endless supply of seeds for free.

Buy more than one seed of the strains you want too grow next order. There is no blame to pass here. Welcome to growing........
