I'm done with the 'Tude. They botched my packaging method which cost me some seeds. They refuse to send any replacements. Hell, they now don't even reply to my inquiries, and I am not being ugly or anything. For the 13th time in 1-1/2 years, I asked them to send my beans via original breeders packs. Being that they are so outspoken in saying the seeds are for "souvenirs only," wouldn't it make sense to ship them in the breeder's packs? That way, the bag is hermetically sealed, looks new, has the company logo and graphics, and the clear bag allows one to view and admire the seeds without any exposure. Now that's how you preserve a "souvenir," right?
Attitude decided to ignore my packaging preference and my request for a re-issue. I was not able to collect all the seeds I bought because I didn't know they would be stored in various locations as single seeds. This company has changed, and not for the better. Rachel had it going on, but she's histo.
Some of you may jump in and call me a dumbass for not doing an all-out Easter Egg Hunt with my beans. I've already received those commentaries, so please refrain from making the insults redundant for me. Again, I lost some of the seeds because I didn't use bionic bi-focals with a magnifying glass to find the scattered seeds. To be fair, their latest method was extremely stealthy. I gotta give them credit for that. But next time, GIVE ME A HINT
if you are going to do a "switch-up" on me. I doubt that I'll ever use them again unless they work with me on this. And I got lucky today, I found a
killer local breeder that sold me some seeds that were only 2 weeks old. The strains are connoisseur-worthy, and they were all big, fat, dark, and tiger-striped. I got a woody as soon as I saw them, lol!
Ok, some other stuff pertinent to this section; there is a rumor going around here, that seeds coming out of Europe to US are being indirectly "scanned" through sophisticated equipment that damages the viability of exported seeds (which prevents them from germinating). The seeds do not look any different. These scanners are meant to prevent any undisclosed live biological organisms that people try to smuggle through Royal Mail. I'm just passing this along, just in the remote case that there might be some truth to this. I scoffed at the rumor at first.
But guess what? The seeds that I DID salvage from that botched shipment shocked the hell out of me. After 36 years of growing, I usually hit a 90% germ rate. But after starting 9 beans,
not one seed germinated. My very first grow at age 15 produced 5 out of 6 germinations! The seeds from this last batch looked really good, so I was shocked that they didn't pop. It's pretty hard to fuck up 9 out of 9 germs. Coincidence? I dunno. Just don't shoot the messenger
.
Tonight I will start my new local seeds! (BTW, my favorite method to germ is in rockwool cubes w/pH'd water in a dome at 78* F. I use all the methods generally, and the results across the board are very similar.)
