so im living out in texas, decided to drop a bagseed into the garden at my house.
its about 8 weeks old today. but it just seems a little small, to me.

a bottom fan leaf every 4 or 5 days has turned yellow.
and towards the top of the plant the stems are purple.

its not in any special soil or getting any fertilizer.
i need to transplant it soon. any ideas on a soil mix or fertilizer for when i transplant it.

I would get fox farm line soil..I think that shit works best...and you have a deficiency of some sort like potassium maybe ?

can i pick that soil up anywhere, or should i order it online. i have some fertilizer in the garage. its 15-30-15
would that work?

you topped it or fim? that will make your plant grow slower like a week or so behind, probally deffeicent of nitrogen,potasium,phosphorus, or zinc or combination of those, add light nutrient solution in ph'd water

also those holes may be from catipillars, might get some peppermint oil based pesticide, i use eco smart

i topped it last week, totally forgot about that. now that makes sense. where i topped it has split into two shoots and they are looking good.
ill go ahead and read the directions on the fertilizer and try that.



so for transplanting. im thinking, digging a 2x2x2ft hole. lining it with the weedblocker screens and using the fox farm soil from the suggestion above. and then digging up my plant and moving it. any specific time to do it so i dont kill my plant.

its been high 90's in austin. when should i be watering? how much?

water at least every 7 to ten days, if its hot and dry water more often for sure, i think it looks really good for only being topped last week i would have guess a little longer, rep+

Well its 90 here where I live as well so I would water it when the first inch to 2 inches of soil around the area gets dry * dirty finger means wet...clean finger means dry add water...kinda like checking a cake in the oven *.. being as its 90 out and in direct sunlight I wouldn't doubt you could get away with a morning water and a night watering. correct me if I am wrong anyone but I would try to minimize the watering at the peak of the day unless it really needs it. And weed blocker is up to you as long as you dont use chemicals like a weed killer or something stupid like that...I think thats all aesthetics really and not needed to be honest.

I 2x2x2 is sufficient. you can go deeper or wider then that but I wouldn't go any smaller then that. pop your plant out close to dark so the sun doesn't torture your plant or put it into shock and add some soil into the hole then add your root ball and put soil around the ball..make sure its sturdy...a plastic tomato pole is not a bad idea if it doesnt stand up by itself.

dig far around your plant so you get it all up so your not ripping too much roots if its in the ground now...it looks like its in the ground....so why the transplant ?

my parents are chill with it, where it is. but im concerned with it getting all hella big. plus i know the soil quality is shitty. so i was kinda thinking a 2x2x2 or 3x3x3 hole so i could add nutes and better soil and let it explode. this is my first plant to grow. so im all newb about it, just wanting some good advice

you can add nutes to where it is..why transplant something you dont need to...itll get nutes and grow big if you feed it...transplating it might make it stress out and stunt it

Grow big by fox farm...go to the website ...fox farm soil and look for a hydro shop near you that sells it...or you can go cheap with miracle grow tomato nutrients at your local garden store...lowes....home depot...target...wal mart...so on...its like 5 bucks a box and will work but isnt best....


fox farm will be the best way to go but all else MG will do lol

yeah and the purple stem issue, you guys were hella right. it was THIRSTY. i watered it last night, a good amount. this afternoon the stems aren't so purple. this damn 90 to hundred degree weather is rough on my lil weedy

yeah, its not really a nutrient. its a plant tonic to reduce stress and help bring back dying plants. I'd get some kelp and fish emulsion and you'll be set.
