ya I think I'm just gonna pluck the balls. my last run 9 out of 10 hermied on me(unstable bagseed) and I just looked every single day and picked them and I ended up with some nice mids with minimal seeds

Here's a couple crappy pics of my half-harvest. I harvested my cloned plants this weekend, using a diff drying method for each as a little experiment. One I just trimmed off the large fan leaves and hung upside-down on Friday, and the other I let ripen a couple more days, then completely trimmed it and layed the buds in a box on some crinkled parchment paper. I'll be rotating them once or twice a day until they dry to help them dry more evenly. Both are in a small cabinet with louvered doors, and a small fan blowing indirectly. Last week I cut, dried, and cured for 3 days, a small sample bud from one of these plants, smoked it last night with my fiance, who is the weed critic at my house, lol. It was a little more than a bowl pack between both of us, and she couldn't finish it, only saying, "I have to say, this is the highest I've been in a while." So I'll take that as a compliment, lol. The smoke was still a little green but very tastey, with citrus tones, and the high was very heady. Definitely raised my expectations as too what a proper dry and cure will have to offer. Aurora is refusing to ripen, but she has to be harvested by January 8th without question, for personal reasons.

P.S.

I don't have a total, but just to throw a few numbers around, the plant drying in the box has a couple wet weight buds at: largest bud/main cola = 18.6 g, mid sized buds = 4-6 g, and small buds 1-2 g.

They have air dried as much as I would like, and have been jarred. Now the burping process begins, yay! I've only harvested my smaller plants, and one of them was def nowhere near as healthy as the other, one downfall of a shared res, one plant ate up more nutes than the other. I'm going to weigh in about a week, now that they are partly dry, my estimate is these two will be about 1 1/2 oz. AI comes down this weekend, which I'm looking forward to and not at the same time, since it'll be my biggest, most tedious trim session.

I may be able to keep my AI another week, which is good, I think she needs it. I just got a new carbon filter which has all but eliminated odor, only a small amount leaks out near the cabinet the last hour or two before lights on. I was worried because we are having company soon and needed the smell to be eliminated by the time they come, that will be easy now. Here is a quick 9 weeks flowering pic update for Aurora, plus the filter that has eased both my and my fiance's mind.

Well, I knew the humidity in the area I grew the clone plants in was high, but I couldn't have guessed how high it really was. I was burping my jars and moving my buds around a little and noticed several of them had mold creeping out of the cracks and crevices, so I pulled a couple of them open to find the buds full of it. I guess that whole lot is garbage, damn it. I'll accept it though, as I've said many times, I didn't do much to really care for them after all, so no huge loss. Anyway, here's a rough idea of what I want to do with my cabinet. I will be using all my same equipment, just utilizing the space better.

I'm really glad I'm able to give Aurora some extra time, it's really paying off. The biggest bud is so thick and heavy that it's weighing that whole part of the plant down as of this morning. Did another trike check, and they are definitely ripening up nicely. Maybe this weekend, maybe next. I'm not in a hurry, I want some quality bud from her. Trikes are almost all cloudy with a few clear, a few amber.

Well, I'm happy to announce, it's FINALLY harvest time for Aurora. I've been catching delays left and right, but it hasn't affected the trichomes too much, I'm about 10% amber now, the rest are cloudy. 11 1/2 weeks flowering total, about 18 weeks from seed, lol. My plans for this grow went way off course, but she is still a pretty girl, and I'll be very happy to smoke her when the time comes. I have one clone that is thriving, so she will probably be the mom for the next generation. No solid plans have been made yet. I'll post some pics sometime soon, most likely when its all done, because I expect to split the harvest and trim chores over a couple days.

WOW beautiful work and good attitude & come back after the bit of mold issue! I love the surface of your drying rack. Your AI looks magnificent. I can't wait to hear what you get for total yield. I'm looking forward to see how the harveting, drying and curing goes for you.

I'm right behind you on the smell. My heater just kicked on in the house and the nice 'sweet' smell of success is subtly wafting through my ducting! I have a charcoal filter ready to be attached so I'm running right behind you! Thank you for paving the way.

Anytime! Thanks for the compliment, I like to think I'm the kind of person that rolls with the punches pretty well. Hopefully next round I will get everything under a little tighter control than I ran this time, but I definitely can't complain too much considering how well she has done overall. We spent about 3 hand and neck cramping hours working on all the "smaller" buds last night. I would guess they will end around 2 oz, 3 if I'm especially lucky. The larger buds are still uncut, and probably won't be harvested for another day or two due to other obligations. My guess for them is about 3 oz, with the biggest one being closer to an oz by itself.

Well, again with the delays, haha. I have had a couple large branches hanging in my cabinet for several days now, but the first round of buds has dried enough and gone into jars. I'm finishing up trimming the rest tonight, and will allow that to dry for a while before being jarred. I'm playing with air drying in strips of shredded paper and a fan blowing strongly but indirectly. The first round seemed to respond nicely to this method with only some minor "stirring" once a day. I will guess and say the dry weight of it all will be close to 3 oz. I've been air drying (no cure) and smoking tiny buds from low on the branches, trying to avoid calling my guy for a bag, and I must say I'm impressed by even their quality. Such a great taste, though a bit grassy, and a decent buzz.I very much look forward to seeing what the dry/cured buds will be like.

Well, my friends, dry weight is around 3 oz, no more than 3.5 oz, 5 wide mouth Ball mason jars full. It's hard to get an accurate number because we dipped our hand into the cookie jar before weighing, but let me tell you, I am so satisfied with the end product. Great taste, hashy and skunky, with sweet highlights, and smells skunky/floral in the jars and even more so when being broken up. The high is a classic Indica body high, very relaxing and good pain relief, a good bedtime smoke. I have a clone ready to flower as soon as I finish working on my cabinet, and will be starting a seed for another strain soon thereafter. I've gained quite a bit of knowledge from this grow and am so ready to move forward. A few lighting issues were my only major downfall, and I will be sure to have that resolved next round. Catch you in a new thread, love, peace, and THC.

Hi,
Can I ask what lights you will be using for your next grow? My AI was just flipped to 12/12 a week ago Monday (yesterday). Would you change your flowering time in any way? The pictures look so good and the effects sound precisely like what I am aiming for.

I plan to use a 100w MH for veg, the same 150w HPS I have now for flower, both with some supplemental CFL/fluoro bulbs around the edges. I think my flowering time would have been a bit shorter if I didn't have some timer issues, and some low temps due to growing in my garage. The best way to determine ripeness is via the trichs, I would start checking them around 7-8 weeks after flowering has begun. Mine were almost all cloudy with around 5% amber for the effects I described above. A lot of people look for the pistils to change color as well, but I still had a lot of white hairs at harvest, and have read similar results. My experience was that the larger the bud, the more white hairs it will have at harvest time. Happy growing, I will definitely keep this strain in my line-up, it's a great indica.

Watch this helps me! thanks. I have been watching mine and mostly they are cloudy and roughly 2/3[SUP]rds[/SUP] of the hairs have gone orangeish brown. I'm really hoping these finish before another month.... oh man I really need a second light for like a month. LOL Although I suppose I could just swap the clones to 12/12 under the metal halide and then just move the big light when they finish.....

hmmmmm the hub was carping about the little 250 Metal Halide upping our electrical bill $70.00! It costs more to run that then the big light! Boy these digital ballasts are so much more efficient than the old magnetic and the heat! That little MH is hotter than my 600 watt HPS! Simply amazing. How far we have come in such a short time.

Almost forgot to ask here, what's in the line up for next? Will you grow over the summer or not?

I actually recommend keeping them under MH for the first 2 weeks off 12/12. It helps counteract the initial stretch, and also helps the bud sites/nodes be closer during the beginning of flower, which should increase bud size and density in the long run. My 100w MH def puts off more heat and uses more power than my 150w HPS, pretty annoying, lol.

I have a grow in the beginning stages right now, but have yet to start a journal. I will be working on that soon, I promise, I know you can sympathize with having "real life" distractions when it comes to the garden ;) Right now I have 2 AI clones looking nice and healthy, a Sour Diesel seedling looking great, and a Citrus Haze seedling that I'm a little concerned about. If it doesn't make it I will just grow out the 3 plants, no real desire to start another seed, already being a few weeks into a grow. So most likely just a AI and SD grow like I've been thinking about for what seems like forever now anyway.
