dnt mean t get off topic but would like to put this out there.
as for potency plant maturity won't effect potency thats genetic but a plant won't show sex until it is mature, the potency will be the same wether its veged to maturity or put in 12\12 to maturity

peace
sorry but i have to disagree with you, there is a distinct difference in potency with my long season grows compared to my short season grows. to me its almost like comparing the cola to the popcorn buds, the cola will always be better

have to hold my ground on this one and disagree. ive grown a lot of weed since my first grow in 1994 ive grown it all diffrnt ways and it is all the same.... you doknow that you cannot make a real comparisson between plants with out usein clones all seeds will be diffrnt so its really hard to prove the point

yes, i am very aware that with seeds even though they are not F1's or what not, all phenotypes are different. All i use are clones of my favorite phenotype from each strain batch so i know exactly what im getting, and i know what to expect. Though im sure you know this juuuust as well as i do.

But with outdoor seasons i swear up and down there is a difference in the potency of the long season plants compared to the short season.

Mature plants always have more THC. This is why taking a clone from a mature plant will give it an extra head start in the THC department and be more potent (if grown under exact conditions). Fogo is correct.

if you can show me actual research proving it i will belive it but until then i dnt. every plant ive grown from seed has been just as good as the clone that came from it so if i clone and flower, an immature plant is the same as its clone every time and ive done it a lot, show me the research and maybe i will belive it if it came from a good source but i belive my own results first. a plant will not flower until its mature anyway so explain that one, if its flowering its mature, if its mature its potent good luck go ahead try and figure it out your sayin a plant wont have as much thc if its not mature when flowered but a plant won't flower until its mature so explain it we all know a plant won't flower until mature so where are you getting this stuff or did you just make it up.

as for mr fogo he states that he uses clones so chances are the plants he talks about are all the same age and same maturity just difrnt sizes unless your growin from seed on your shourt season crops....... wait a min whats your hrs of light during your short season, seems like that would be why you get worse results, there is only 1 season where you have more than 12 hr light so could it be your envirnment and not the plants so you think its the plants maturity rather than the whole less than optimal conditions thing..... somethin aint right here hmmmmmm

i stand by what i said and disagree, facts back it up i see no need to experiment

I would top that big girl then wait another 2 weeks for the others to catch up and the big one to heal, then you will have 2 big colas from your big plant come harvest time. since its your first time i would try because you want to get as much learning in as possible for your first round. its really simple. wipe your scissors with alcohol to disinfect it. grab the top leaves with your fingertips and pull up on them lightly. cut at the base so when the cut is complete all of the leaves are still connected. this will cause 2 new shoots to grow so you will have 2 tops instead of 1.
youll have to wait about 2-3 weeks before you flower but i have found that its better to wait than jump the gun and flower too early - will be worth it when you harvest your veggies.

take a look at this pic i found

He is telling you to keep them all three in veg but stack them so the shorter ones get more light and therefor grow faster. Then after the shortest one is at least 12" tall, change them to flower/bud cycle. You will get NO product from that shortest one if you put it into flower now. Also, you have to consider age as well as size for agiven variety when deciding to move them into flower.

Regardless of what cycle they are in, if you only have one light you need to stack them so that the tops are all about the same distance from the light. If you put them all on the same shelf or floor, then you will either light starve the shortest one or burn the tallest one. Each plant MUST have the light source distance adjusted to meet ITS OWN needs either by positioning the light or moving the plant closer or farther apart.

Why in the hell would even a first timer stagger the seeding/cloning of multiple plants of the same strain if you only have one grow area? God, my 8 year old grandson knows that if one plant is 2 weeks older than the other, they are NOT going to bloom at the same time or develop bud/fruit at the same time.

If this sounds like too much trouble, consider switching to the auto flowering varieties like lowryder crosses that veg for 2 weeks and then go into flower regardless of the light cycle. All you have to do with them is plant them water them, feed them the proper nutes for their cycle and harvest them. They do NOT need the light cycle changed or changed from MH to HPS, although using a combination can increase your yield, in fact cutting the lights back from at least 18/6 will probably decrease your yield.

The neat thing about them is they finish in around 70 days from planting the seeds to harvest and you can stagger your crop because they all use the same lighting. All you have to do is to feed them veg nutes for the first 2 weeks, then switch over to flower nutes and finally to water just before harvest.

If you need more information, I believe there is a thread on auto flowering on this forum. If not let me know and I can get you a link.

Also, the auto flowering are very light sensitive -- they are short and bushy so you need a lot of light.

Hopefully this will hlep.

i appreciate the feedback there buddy... def something to think about... but i would love to see your 8yr grandson try and grow some chronic. and i was gonna build a veg cabinet but i just dont have the room at this time, thats why i staggered the plants like that.

this is what iv been saying keep the young girls in veg until they are mature enough before you flower them, better yield and potency. but make sure they are close enough to the lights light a mdma addict!!
