Aussie Growers Thread

Anybody be able to recommend a good plant feed ? Just something I can get down at a local store like Bunnings or something like that.
 
Sweet thanks again guys. I guess being in vic I could try 3-5 plants without much risk? theres so many nice strains haha.

I was talking to a mate last night and he has this big ass old MH light it has 2 x 250W MH (the small bulbs buts not the big curved bulb the little stick one) it also has 4x t5HO and 2 LEDS, would this be good enough? My understanding is in flower stage I would just be required to change the bulbs to a bulb with a better spectrum for flowering?

Does anyone use LEDS? I think they would be the best but I cant find jack info on recent LEDS. I know they have come along way in the past 3 years. I know how to build DIY 3W LED units so I could save an awful lot of money if I decide to go ahead by using LEDs.

2-3 plants under a 400-600w WILL require at least a 1.2x1.2x2.0 in space .80x.80 will only JUST be enough for one...

Better to go bigger and if your looking at some tents, Secred Jardin make some great ones....

I'm looking at the same but would use CREE LED's modules for this. I use stage LED's for some fill and side lighting plus for the seedlings for the first couple of weeks. LED's have come along way I'm looking at some here http://www.ledsales.com.au/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=148_188_220

2x 250w MH would be plenty just remember heat extraction, even 4x T5HO would get you through the first month or so from seed... Then you could veg for another month under the 250w's then switch to a 400w HPS for flower.

HPS bulbs are the pencil like ones, you can get dual spectrum (both red & blue nm/spectrum) bulbs that are great for plants you could also use it for both vegg & flower if you really had too...

4 - 50 is an indictable offense so you can get into a fair amount of trouble for this and anything over 50 commercial and is deep deep shit.

3 plants can bag you a shit load of weed if doen properly though. more than you could ever smoke

Got mine ebay... through a seller called snizen99 ...might be spelt with double z? Good package deals..My buddy built a box..the main advantage is you can have a higher ceiling....this has a big impact on the tempetures inside..not to metion bigger girls...

i have no idea my partner was studying law and had a sight with all sorts of great info on it but i have no idea what it was and have since asked her and she cant find it either. they make the info on laws so hard to find

exactly!... meanwile someone else could grow 5 plants quite comfortably in a .8 x.8 space it just comes down to veg time and training method. hell some sog growers would grow 64 single cola clones in that space
 
I see, I know I would defs be going hydroponic or aquaponics, yet to look up aquaponics and green so not sure if they 2 work with one another!! I cant see fish giving the best nutrient supply for bud vs the premade mixes.

what would be the best plan of attack? find the method I want to use, look for a area, chose strains?

For terms of stealth what would be the main areas? I have been reading on flir radars for the past hour. my biggest worry with it all is the police here may use a different method to where 99% of the movies / documentary are made.

dont stress about flir. its not really an issue for us. not unless your running a whole house full of grow lamps. even then i have never heard of flir busting anyone in aus.

as for aquaponics, i follow a grower on another forum who grows this way with stunning results. so good in fact im giving it a run as soon as i can fund a new project. he claims the quality is the best he has ever had. totally organic hydro goodness. although i would imagine without a good grounding in hydroponics first aquaponics could be a little difficult to master.

i would suggest a simple drip system or maybe a flood and drain for a beginner.

I have actually seen/helped setup an aquaponic system before. I also keep reef saltwater tanks, Guess I can say I am a coral grower so far, haha. so the whole aquaponic method phases me, I may have to look into it for the down the road.

Any chance you could link me to the other page? My only issue with aquaponics is to my understand MJ requires cal and Mag dosing? freshwater fish are not the best in terms of having cal and mag in the water column so the dosing would have to be pretty spot on imo. I have been reading about aquaponics for 2 years I believe so it actually makes the most sense to me vs these other systems.

Not surprised with his results, I have had fruit/veggies from a aquaponic system and the flavors / smells where just different.

Brings a bit of a relief knowing the helis are not scanning my house! I take it getting busted wont really occur for such a low amount else I am running my mouth or walking up and down the road holding my plants eh?

Anyways time to go have a few cones and wake up.
 
Maybe you could foliar feed cal/mag to the aquaponics girls? Im doing 5 girls in a 1x1 tent...in stages of course not all at the same time..one every 2 weeks, bush of green or BOG as I like to call it...I'm doin dwc..can be problematic....mainly need lots of air and cool res temps...slow in summer...your probably better off beginning in soil or as previously stated recirc top drip..my mates kicks arse through summer...thinking I might change back after next run or 2....
