* huge thanks to FlowaMaster for his help on the hempy system - I would recommend checking out his journal FlowaMasta's Methodology @ How to Grow Monster pound plants!!! - even if you're not growing using his methods, there's so much to learn - it's also inspirational seeing aussies pulling the kind of quality gear flowa does - cheers mate

This was a freebie seed that I'm really happy I managed to get.

It's a Positronics Seeds - Blue Rhino.

I'm noticing that on one side the leaves are mutating a little, with asymmetrical leaves... I love it, looks just like it's Blueberry father.

I can't get over that 'Lotus' strain's 11-blade leaves.

Cheers 2easy, If I wasn't so paranoid I'd be posting heaps more photos, and talking about my 5'x4' veg room with 2 x 600W Lucagrow+digital ballasts, and my flower room with 4 x 600W Lucagrow+digital ballasts. I have 6 CoolTubes keeping all the Lucagrows cool, and the rooms are air conditioned via a split-system. Everything is hand watered, and there's a slope in my floor with the runoff making its way back to the doorway where I mop it up. I'm going to get a wet-vac to make life easier. I also have most of the stuff I need to add CO2. Smells are kept at bay by a 800x300 carbon can, which an 8" centrifugal fan is attached to it. I also have a 1000mg/hr ozone generator to help keep on top of things. I designed a pretty cool collector box that takes all the 150mm ducts from the CoolTubes, as well as a 8" duct sucking from the top of each grow room. The carbon can and ozone generator are mounted inside the collector box, so the box acts as a mixing chamber for the ozone. The ozone also cleans the carbon filter. An extra chamber at the back of the collector box houses the fan, with lots of foam surrounding it.

I have 330mm pots I picked up at K-Mart for $2 each (bargain!), which are all filled with perlite. I've always run 100% perlite and had sensational results, although I do use Grodan cubes for cloning, along with Yates Clonex. Anyway, I'm using Growth Technology - Optimum A + B which rocks IMO. I've used Canna, Flairform, and Growth Technology, and IMO the GT was the best performer, with Canna maybe a smidge better, but less yield. Flairform was tops too. I also use Canna Rhyzotonic and Cannazym. I have their PK 13/14 for the 5th week of flowering. It's supposed to be made up of some super expensive form of P and K that boosts yield and quality. Anyway, I didn't want to skimp on the supplements, and Canna is excellent when it comes to quality.

This grow I have 3 Dinafem - Critical Jack Autos and 2 Barney's Farms - Pineapple Express, as well as 1 Auto Seeds - Berry Ryder. The Berry Ryder looks sooo Indica (very dark, very fat leaves). I germed 25 autos seeds, but I don't seem to have much luck with OS seeds, and only managed to get 6 to do anything. They all split, but didn't have enough juice to make it any further. The same applies to the permanent additions to my grow, where I only managed to get 3 strains from the 6 strains I tried to germinate. I have a Sensi seeds - Jack Flash #5 that is just amazing to watch grow. It's loving the conditions (photos soon), and I also have a DNA Genetics - Kushberry, as well as the Positronics Seeds - Blue Rhino. I have plans to get another strain (Sensi Seeds - Northern Lights #5 x Haze or DNA Genetics - LA Confidental).

My back is shot, so I pretty much move and I'm in pain, and about 5 months ago a friend introduced me to I ndica, and my pain went away. I'd smoked Afghani before, but it always put me to sleep, but this time it woke me up. My theory is when yu are able-bodied and you smoke Indica, it couch-locks you, but for those of us with a shitty-body that gives you pain all the time, that couch-lock body-stone is relief. I've never got so much done as the time I had an ounce of Indica (strain-unknown). Now I'm smoking OG Kush, which was all I could get, and it really doesn't come anywhere near the Indica, but it helps. Anyway, knowing I couldn't get the relief I needed on a steady basis when I was relying on others, I decided the ONLY way I could get any stability in my life was to grow my own medicine. I also need to experiment with what works, so I can find what works best for me, so growing/trying different strains is important to me. I love a super-creative all-Sativa just as much as the next person, but I can't handle that sort of stone all the time, whereas the Indica lets me think clearly, and I can smoke it pretty much non-stop. I smoke when I wake, just before I go to sleep, and pretty much non-stop in-between... and I like it. :)

Anyway, I'll keep posting photos of the progress. So far, the Critical Jack Autos and the Jack Flash #5 are the stand-out performers.

wow impressive setup.

im glad to hear you have found something which relieves your pain. i personally smoke believe it or not mostly for motivation. i know that sounds crazy and counterproductive but i love real heady sativas and i tend to get really active while stoned. its about the only time i will get up and do all the little jobs i have been putting off.

im just curious have you considered trying some of the new high CBD strains. they are supposed to be pretty good for pain relief and medical purposes. im interested to learn more about them because i dont know anyone that has tried one. i dont think i will grow one myself because i prefer high THC low CBD profiles.

also if your looking for a nice NL5 x Haze i suggest you check out mr nice's auction site. he is an awesome breeder and his auction site seeds can go cheap sometimes.
these are the oldschool legit genetics and his NL5 x Haze is the real deal and if you want something with even more kick you might want to try his strain "the doors" it is (NL5 haze x haze) mind you its not ging to have much of that indica stone your after.

I've heard of/read about Mr Nice Guy (Nevile) before, but there doesn't seem to be the buzz on the forums associated with the newer strains. I see Sensi is claiming their NL5 x Haze is one of their, if not their best strain (or at least that's their spiel). I plan on travelling to Amsterdam on a 'spiritual-journey', and I really like the idea of being able to strike up a conversation about growing one of their strains when I visit each seed company/shop. My favs are DNA, Sensi, and Barney's Farms for picking their brains for info. I also want to visit Sensi's museum. I figure after a month in Amsterdam/Copenhagen (staying with a friend that lives there) I'll make some great friends and learn heaps of tips from the 'horses' mouths' (strain/seed producers). I also want to get the feel of a more open society towards smoking.

I will always love smoking sativa, but not all day long. I find smoking nothing but sativa all day brings on what I call 'sativa-rages'. One of my friends call his 100% sativa 'Grumpy' because if he smokes too much he gets really shitty with everyone. That said, I find sativa unbelievably helpful in the creative process when I'm designing something, in fact, many a time I got super-stoned and sat in my grow room coming up with ideas to improve it (I spent 2 months putting it together, and changed it around completely a couple of times as I nutted out better ways to lay it all out). The sativa made the creative side fun, while the indica made doing the work a real pleasure. When I'm working on indica, I feel like singing "don't worry, be happy". When I work on sativa, I'm totally intense and focused, and I often have to remind myself to relax a little, plus I often don't enjoy the process, whereas indica makes it a breeze. Again, my back hurts like a MF, so indica takes all that away, and I feel like I've gotta make hay while the sun shines, so I get busy. I also notice I talk to my dog non-stop on indica, but on sativa I'm silent, and he gets pissed off with it, and regularly comes up to nudge me for some conversation (he's big! like 50kgs big).

Now that reminds me of a little talked about subject (because everybody is always obsessed with strains), and that's what I call 'blends'. Does anybody ever blend 2 strains in a mull? I figure it's like cooking, and you could come up with some great blends. If I had a dispensary, I'd be making up pouches of blends that were ready to roll. Anyway, it's something I'm interested to play with. I wonder if a blend of NL5 and Haze would provide the same effect, or even flavour? OK, I'm rambling... blame it on the sativa

i dont mess around with blends all that much but i know other growrers that love to mix and match they say they can create exactly the high they like. might be something to look into.

i think you would have a ball in amsterdam. it would be awesome to head over there for an extended period of time. i would love to pick up some part time work in a growing facility, especially a breeding facility. i doubt i will ever get the chance to make that journey though. maybe when im old and grey you might catch me over there sitiing in the back corner of one of those cafes lol until then im just going to hold hope that our leaders come there senses and legalise the sacred herb here.

More photos...

These are my standout performers, as well as the Pineapple Express in the small coffee-jar lid. The PE grew upside-down, and I found it when I was throwing out the dud-seed Grodan cubes. It had sprouted, then got lost inside the cube. Anyway, I dug it out, but it was ugly, like it had mould on the edges, so out of interest, I flipped it over and stuck it back in the cube. It sat there for about a week then started to grow VERY slowly. As it grew, I noticed the ends of the leaves were burnt, but not nute-burn, it was the mould that had eaten the ends. So the second and third sets of leaves were nasty as they grew, but the newer leaves are OK. Talk about no-stretch, that little baby is on it's 4th set of leaves now, and it's only 2" tall! It's become a bit of fun now, and who knows, I may still get an ounce from it yet! LOL!

The JF5 is outstanding to watch grow. It grows so fast that you notice it each time you water. It looks super-robust like skunk, but with indica-wide leaves.

Oh yeah, the JF5 and Critical jack Auto are at 24 days from being placed in the cube/watered. Not bad for 24 days, even if I do say so myself. :)

That's it, I'm actually looking forward to coffee and cones in Holland, and yes, sitting in the back of the cafe chilling. LOL

hmmm... part-time work in a major grow facility... I'd prefer to get a job at Sensi, or Barney's as a 'taste-tester', or looking after the 'display' areas, and storeroom. :P

online is the way to order, then a couple of weeks later you have a bag of 1st class beans to sew. I stuck with the big names, but I've read Mr Nice is a rock-solid source in a few places, and even if the auction goes a little high, you get excellent value by the looks of it (15 beans in the auction I saw). I spent 400 spondoolies on 40 seeds (including freebies), so not cheap. ALL my seeds were feminised. I haven't got time for males... or hermies for that matter, that's why I went with the big seed companies, with their long-ago stabilised strains, just like Mr Nice's strains... rock solid. The seeds from Sensi were the size of a marble... well not literally, but we marvelled at the size of them, and looking at the plant, they must be a huge Indica that grows like one of the more commercial strains. I'd resigned myself to growing smaller indicas, but now I'm thinking the JF5 could be a great producer of what I'm after, which is a nice hybrid without too much trippy-ness to the stone. I've only ever smoked skunk, super, and lemon, so I couldn't give up that nice buzz playing in the background. Here's the spiel from one of the smokers' guide site...

Sensi Seeds - Jack Flash #5
Flowering Time:
50-70 Days
Grown Indoor or Outdoor?: Indoor
Parents: Jack Flash x Skunk #1
Type: 35% Indica / 65% Sativa
Buzz: Warm social high
Taste/Smell: Fruity/Skunky

Continuing the tradition of improving on our best work, Sensi Seeds is delighted to present Jack Flash - an all-female version of Jack Herer´s direct descendant!

To create Jack Flash, Herer´s sublime gene-pool was refined, reinforcing desired traits through back-crossing. Over multiple generations, our favourite Herer mother was infused with a precise blend of Super Skunk and Haze, undergoing rigorous selection and testing at every stage.

By altering this program only slightly and adding a unique ‘father´ plant to the mix in the final stage, Sensi has been able to produce Jack Flash #5; a reliable, consistent, feminised variation on our spectacular Jack Flash. Jack Flash has the bulk and vigour of her Afghani-Skunk ancestors without sacrificing any of Herer´s sumptuous Haze high. In isolating this particular balance of traits, the four common phenotypes of Jack Herer are reduced to two recurring forms in Jack Flash, representing the contrasting sides of her heritage.

The Indica form is compact enough for SOG, with rapid and highly distinctive bud development. Calyxes swell to outrageous sizes, piling atop each other to form resin-saturated ropes which build into multi-point crowns on terminal buds.

The Sativa-dominant Jack Flash is a truly world-class example of cannabis. Growers with space for medium-to-large plants will be astounded by this phenotype - her flavour, yield and mind-body potency are virtually unparalleled. Significant height gain in flowering, paired with the ability to completely fill out with solid, running, Skunk-Haze bud means that best results are seen in when Jack Flash´s Sativa form is allowed to finish at 1m or taller. While most members of the Sensi family rate Northern Lights#5 x Haze or Jack Herer as their all-time favourite ganja, Jack Flash is another serious contender for the title and is steadily gaining ground on the two world champion Sativas.
