7 from flip 5 weeks of flower. the smaller pheno is either finishing quick or is just so heavily pollinated all the pistils have died back.

the larger pheno seems largely unafected though wth barely any browned off pistils so im not sure how much pollen was released. the taller pheno also looks like it will go a fair bit longer as its still pumping out pistils like crazy

When it comes to rods. I don't really know what constitutes good- or just expensive. The last time I even had a rod, was 11 years ago. A waaay too late gift from my dingleberry father.

About the only things I do know about rods is that Shimano and Daiwa make good reels. You can hook a big fish with a little hook. But, not the other way round. And the rod has to suit the style of fishing you're doing.

Estuary rods are good all rounders if your near ocean - a light spin combo would be fine for most lakes and rivers - but you want to know your reel and line weight to get the right match. Go to BCF or something and check out the combos there and you might find a decent setup for a good price. If you don't buy there then note the specs and look for separate rod/reel/line in the same ballpark from pawn shops and stuff. Also just get decent quality mono line instead of braided stuff and you'll save lots of $.

Depends what kind of fish you're after though. Baitcasters are good for lots of situations too but the cost adds up with lures, braided line etc and you need to practice a bit to get the hang of it

I live fairly close to a bcf. It's where I got my goal zero 250 Torch from. I've had a look at their rods too. I get overwhelmed by the selection.

I don't see myself doing boat fishing. At least, not out in the ocean. I feel queasy just doing dolphin tours...

I'd be more inclined to cast a line from a jetty. Or the shores of beaches and rivers.

I'd go something like a light estuary or a spin combo around the 8-10 pound mark and that's fine for most stuff. Get a bit heavier/longer if you can get to a beach to fish though

Ive found 2 to 3 kg 6ft spin combos in 2 or 3 piece can be used for most anything. If beach fishing then you really do need something larger and again pawn shops are great. Fishermen spend sooo much money on new gear and some of it ends up at pawn shops.
Mono line as Dope said is cheaper than braid. Im a big fan of Vanish. Its also well priced. If lure fishing then braid is worth the extra if you want to treat yourself and the Vanish makes a good leader. Carful playing with braid as it can cut you to the bone.
4 or more bearing egg beaters are a work horse, just look for a smooth drag and look after them. I have reels 20 years old and still fish with them.

Fishing gear can be confusing if you don't try to stick with simple combos. Even hook choice these days are a nightmare but try to go for a barbless hook that does degrade.
