I’m about to re pot my babies and thinking about mixing perlite in this time rather than straight coco but don’t know
Depends on your temperature and how course chip your coco is, and your watering method. The big tomato glasshouses here don't use fine chips, they go for a more coarse chip as I do. Gets a better irrigation flush. Remember you want 15 to 25% runoff. So if you tipped 1L in ideally you want 150 to 250mls runoff. Work with that and you know you'll on the right path. easy as.

NZ just added another week to lockdown.

Yes I always have a good amount of runoff etc. I use canna coco plus don’t know if that fine chip or course? And tbh the main reason I thought to add perlite was because I thought it might help with gnats? Last run the pots went bone dry plants wilted the lot on numerous occasions (due to moving out and not having constant access to property) and I still had them in plague proportions! Although I’m thinking maybe it was because there was a constant water source in the room in way of a large floor drain where water would sit stagnant?

Why what happened?
Someone's hung up about the word cunt then flashes tease pics in the next 5 mins
It's like sorry boys for not liking the word cunt but here's a look instead
There's other threads for a perve and show bit here it's an Aussie thread so the word cunt is used a bit more loosely than other threads cos in Australia especially in regional climates the word cunt can be used without taking offence

In South Aust there's a ready made bagged mix called Nicks mix that has coco perlite already mixed in.
I used that for my first indoor grow

I use canna coco aswell was gonna add perlite in over winter because in summer the pots would dry up too quick with perlite in. Ive never been able to fully get rid of gnats unless i chuck gnat mix ontop but its pre pricey and messy.. so i just give each plant a sticky trap amd 2 neem oil flushes a week apart at the start of flower.. lowers the numbers dramatically but doesnt get rid of them.. summer is deffinatly worse for gnats

The canna coco plus is quite fine grade. Mix it 70/30 course grade perlite.
Found get better root system than straight coco.

A mate of mine i was helping start up growin a few years back had the same strain same cut in 2 diff pots one had perlite mix the other straight coco and the perlite mix was leagues better BUT only because he was over watering them to all fuck to the point they got root rot.. so the one with perlite had more oxygen in root zone had less of a root rot problem

Are you filtering your intake, at least with a bug screen if not a carbon filter?
Nah im not and thatd probs be part of the problem... be a bit tricky to setup a filter on my setup especially a servicable one.. my intake is connected to a board of mdf that is wrapped in reflective insulation with a hole cut out for the ducting and that just intakes through a window that is open to outside but has flywire on it

Are you doing passive or active intake?

I did the same once with cuts of same plant to be used as mums. The mixed pots had much better roots. The ones with bennies used even more so.
Growing healthy roots is as important as what’s above the medium.

Try and at least fit a bug net filter on it. Can get at most hydro shops or online.
