For sure dude. Tbh it's not a great strain to grow imo. Uniformity among the four different phenos was good but theyre very finicky, stretch is insanely high and although some may disagree, growing plants on the DL is very hard when the cultivars pummel a brand new carbon filter. The stench during trimming actually became sickening.

Heard its potent af tho so hopefully its all worth it. lol

I know plenty of guys that run tool shops from their shed with Cnc equipment which use enough power to have 2-3 good sized grows going. Those machines can run for 18+ hours straight depending on the program, same thing with people have servers at their house or people running hps/mh shop lights in their sheds. It’s normal for People use a butt load of power sometimes, most grows wouldt be a drop In the ocean compared to most energy users. I don’t see smart metres busting people unless they’re bypassing those metres. They’ve been around here for years now and no issues from them.
 
how much power a week are you all talking about ? I'm using a bit around 80 Gillard a week. I have a 1200 wt air con that uses a lot of power over summer

80 Gillard? Not sure what that is bob

but aircons are normally used in summer so aircon use isn’t really going to get someone busted. How many houses have 5+kw systems or multiple split system running?

The algorithms the computers use can guess with a great deal of accuracy what is being used.
From prev conversations you have the older smart meters than can't be read remotely.

Its not the power ussage. Its the algorithms used that can telll what is being used. They know (guess) the difference from a kettle and dryer, compressor cycling and a spa pump for eg. Not a big deal maybe in a state with the population of NSW but in a state of only 500,000 people??

Anyway, already kept my dumb meter and just seeing if someone else in my state has had the notice and if so what they have done.

my usage cost isnt bad. No solar, large home with 4 people and a decent sized shed, compressor etc. Small grow. Between $750 and $850 per 1/4 all year (wood fires)

I’m calling bullshit. They can tell what power is used and when. Not what’s using it. As klx said unless your running a commercial setup at 20+kwh I highly doubt it’s an issue and even than fuck all.

there no way of telling if someone’s running a cnc plasma or a cnc mill they’ll just know that they’re using x amount of power for c length of time.

this isn’t to mention that most guys here would use less power in their grow than what their hot water system chews up maintaining temps.

what are they going to do anyway, knock down the door of every cunt growing veggies In there spare bedroom. Not all people who grow inside grow weed.

I know a bloke who's running multiple computers, like a a garage full, with energy-sucking graphics cards for bitcoin mining.
When I was homebrewing on the regular, I had about 6 fridges running concurrently.
 
The meters can't tell what appliances are running unless they're connected to the local Wifi (those smart fridges on 5G that can tell you what's in the fridge & what to put on your shopping list.....)- they just send consumption & TOU data to the network. For instance, they can't tell whether you're running a pool filter or a 600W grow tent at 6am-9am.

I don't think the Police would waste time & resources on hunting for/prosecuting small-scale personal home-based grows. They're only interested in the big operations.

The power companies get tipped-off by the Police that a grow-house has been busted & they send-in a sparky to find the bypass (which is usual practice for such op's) & assess potential electricity usage for "revenue protection" purposes.

If you think about it, having a smart meter send data directly to the network actually INCREASES your security, as it removes the need for someone to attend the premises in person (except to have the meter installed &/or replaced if there's a fault with it). Old-style mechanical disc meters or MRIM's (Manual Read Interval Meters) require a person to actually attend the premises & read the meter by eye or with an optical probe.

Your rate of consumption won't change whether you have a dumb meter or a Smart one - if they haven't come after you yet, it's highly unlikely that they will after a Smart meter has been installed.
 
Id rather stick to dumb. Got given the choice and its been made. Just interested what or if JZ has had a choice yet.

Reference materiel looks pretty solid to me and computers are wonderful at analyzing data quickly.. But as i said Ive already made my decision and just wanting to know what someone else in my state has or is doing. Its fairly pertinent to state i think as Tas electricity is still pretty much a Govt controlled monopoly. Which has a bearing I think.

Dont want it privatized like the mainland states either, Like when the mainland states privatized Green slips they went thru the roof. Our rego with the 3rd party insurance is still very affordable.
