How confident are you that a hlg650 will smash a 600w hps? Coz I've been interested in led but don't wanna replace my hps setup only to find out it isn't as good. I can pull up to a lil bit over 2lb off a 600w hps

I'm telling u from experience man that a 550 hlg in my experience did not out yeild a 600 watt.
the buds just don't seem to get as big.

I was talking to soren at quick blook lights though an he was assuring me that the 650 would out perform 600.
he was saying 1000

Yeah see that's the thing half people say there isn't fuck all difference and then people say LEDs smash hps and just can't tell if they just led fanbois or being legit

I asked this question before and the general response was that they aren't really that much better

just buy 1. 650 stick it in an run it against the 600s

To the contrary, its hps fan bois like jzs who have little to no understanding of the technology and are stuck in the past. Leds, watt for watt will outperform hps all day long. There's a reason hps use is in terminal decline.

Ok, what are the main things you have to do differently with led rather then hps? Is it different leaf temps or?

I have been using LEDs since about 2015 and LEDs will outperform HPS watt for watt there is no denying this at this stage in my opinion. The LED companies, however, do themselves no favours with their bullshit. Personally I would run as many watts as I could no matter if its LED or HPS whatever the space can handle.

The only reason I got into LEDs was because I was coming back from OS and had to start from scratch. If I was pulling 2 pounds of top shelf bud from a 600 HPS then I would just keep doing what I was doing. I dont pull 2 pounds of top shelf from 600 of LED so I would be interested to know what cut that is

You dont really have to do anything differently, dude. Leaf temps make marginal difference unless you live in very cold climate.

Leds, due to their lack of infrared, are optimally run with the ambient temp in your space a few degrees warmer.

People say you need to run LED rooms hotter and more calcium etc etc. I just think you need to keep the plant healthy and hot rooms late in flower is not something I would every advocate

This. The marketing is so fucking shady and dishonest, and fills people's heads with bullshit to the point where some think leds are just hype.

My amnesia haze #1 pulls over 2lb of bud long flower tho approx 11 weeks and my blue dream hits 2lb, my amnesia haze #2 I hit 1.75 with, blue cheese recent grow hit 1.5lb, you've seen my pics you decide for yourself if it's topshelf in your eyes or not im not going down that pathway

there will be 5. 600 watts in there so heat won't be an excuse

The 650hlg will kick a single 600w hps any time of tge day
If a single 600w is outyielding your single 650hlg your doing something wrong with the hlg

Pros and cons for both
Hlgs let off fuck all heat good in hot spots but obviously a 600hps gives a bit more heat in colder climates yeah ?
Im just a newb with 2 x 550hlg grows under my wing tho

Yeah thats what I gathered one can be better than the other or they can be on par depends on your individual situation
