Hello RIU,

Planted 9 auto fems last friday (May 22nd 2015), setup as follows;

Strains: 4 x Durban Poison (dutch passion), 4 x Northern Lights (nirvana) & 1 x Mazar (dutch passion).
Lights: 1000w digital dimmable, dual spectrum bulb.
Area: Open room with 16" oscillating fan.
Nutes: GHE Flora Series.
Soil: 80% Peat Moss & 20% White biodegradable stuff u find in boxes (see pic).

(Day 7 from seed). Seems to be going well so far except for the mazar which is taking its time breaking through the shell completely. As soon as they roared through the soil I put em under 400w (horizontal) According to my lux meter the centre pot is receiving over 82,000lux! this where i'll be rotating the NLs & Mazar only, the DPs grow tall so I don't wanna encourage them with excessive light. The surrounding pots are receiving anywhere between 20,000 & 45,000lux. Temps are are no higher than 29c, but humiidy is always low beween 20& & 30%. Anyway buddies pls feel free to join in with any comments, advice or a laugh!

Peace out! 8-)

You know dimming hid will eventually ruin bulbs. Just making sure you're aware buddy!
Yes I have read about that...but other's say its only a problem with mh bulbs including the shop I got it from, cant say for sure but will crack on with 1000w as soon as the plants are more established. Next few days hopefully.

Can anyone tell me whats going on with this auto mazar? its been struggling to get out the shell for days now & its way behind the others! if it breaks out i'll stick it in the centre for max light so hopefully it will eventually catch up a bit.

Increased the lights to 600w...a couple of strugglers are placed outside the main canopy. Humidity level is very low at about 18% & temp is 30c. I can't get the fan to blow on the bulb because of the refelector so I have no option but to blow directly on the canopy...must feel like a hurricane for some seedlings but what can I do? the stems are supported so at least they're not getting supercropped & bent 180degrees!

Manually removed the shell of the mazar to release the other cotyledon which was stuck & still yellow. Hoping this eventually speeds up the growth, but im kinda wishing I just replaced it with another auto for a better start.

Cranked the lights up to 1000w...31c just now which I think is OK, it is summer after all! one of the mazar's cotyledon is still yellow though, doesn't seem to have improved since Sunday.

Reverted back to 600w...I think more than that at this stage is a waste. The 1000w seems great for penetration & a larger canopy, the seedlings are too small to make it worth the extra power.

I read somewhere that cotyledon's don't help with the plant's growth, their purpose is to remove the shell only. The mazar's still lagging behind though but does have it's first set of leaves, small one's albeit. I was planning to fim on the 3rd but have been reading that's its a bad idea with auto's, seems that even though they recover well the yield isn't better than just leaving them grow naturally. In fact it sounds like they don't even like LST...but I might have to with the durbam poison as they'll get bigger than the NL.

If it has leaves it should be fine, right now they are probably just growing roots like mad and soon should start growing leaves and getting some height. LST is fine, just don't cut anything until you have experience with the strain.

Cheers buddy, won't be cutting anything since it sounds like a bad idea with autos...you have no control over the veg period.

(day 14 from seed). Nothing to complain about really except for the mazar which is soooo slow, looks like its gonna be tiny! would love to get the temps down from 29c, the fan is on its lowest setting so I could get it down by turning it up except for the fact the seedlings will then be in the middle of a hurricane. A couple of the DPs actually got flattened as if supercropped by the fan some days ago... took a day to recover!

Not sure whats happening with the leaves here, could be overwatering or the fan blowing into the canopy or something else??

Oh SHIT!!! there's a good chance ill have visitors next month for 4 or 5wks...my only option is to remove the plants from the open room & put them outdoors on the roof which is a struggle to get to with some climbing involved. Ill need to arrange water, nutes etc to leave there before they arrive & quickly sneak up a couple of times a week. Was so looking foreward to finishing this grow in the comfort of an open room using 1000w as well! Never got the chance to harvest & cure my last grow either...
