The benefits are smaller plants that will flower under any light cycle. The downfalls are a smaller yield and some strains out there are not 100% stable, will not autoflower on their own.

Benefits.
*Smaller, you can grow more different types in a smaller space.
*Plays well with others, in other words AF's adjust to varying light schedules.
*More genetically homozygous, means most beans from the same batch will grow alike.
*Hardier. My opinion only, but AF's are regular strains crossed with ruderalis. Ruderalis is known as ditch weed.

Drawbacks.
*Sad but true, AF's AVERAGE about half as strong as my non-AF's. Exceptions occur.
*Absolutely (for me anyway) unfrigging clonable. Means you pay for every bean. Booooo.
*Mostly non-odorifous. I like my weed to reek.
