auto NL: question

If I noticed a deficiency after watering with plain water two days ago.... is it more detrimental to water again(with nutrients) without soil dry enough or to wait for soil to be dry in fear of overwatering

I'm running northern lights auto in 5 gallon pot. Ocean forest with 20-30% perlite. noticed a cal mag deficiency. They are about 50 days old. I fed one that was dry cal mag supplement and its flourishing but my other pots are not ready for water.

I was unable to find a clear answer to my question. Wait to water and risk more deficiency or water and risk overwatering?

Wait til dry to water/fertilize.

If they have been in the same pot for more than a month I am sure they need nutes. A balanced grow type nute with magnesium and micros.

Start light and work up slowly.

My mature plants in ocean forest need nutes added after about 3 weeks every time.

Small plants from clone or seedlings I water only for a month to 6 weeks but I transplant up as needed into fresh pots with new soil.

Thanks I have given them a very light feed of gh flora series which has calcium and mag but not enough. Public water has none I just found out. My one plant I fed cap/mag to is flourishing

I find it hard to believe your tap water has no cal or mag. But either way the nutes you have are complete. You should not need additional cal mag products unless you are in coco.

It takes some practice to find the right nute concentration for your plants.

Their size stage genetics and environment and amount of light all play into it.

I found it hard to believe myself however I looked on the public water website and it breaks it down. No cal or mag

All of the required nutes are in the 3 bottles and the soil has a buffer so it doesn't matter either way. Low EC water needs no adjustment for soil.

Thanks for your input and time. At what point during this auto grow would you cut out the gro? I didn't want to give too much nitrogen. They seemed to have fully stretched for flower

pH of water? ph run off? pictures are nice..

In a potting mix grow with lime or something as a buffer I only use a balanced grow fertilizer all the way through.

Bloom booster type bottles are not necessary in soil. There is even a video with the president of dyna gro admitting that he made the bloom because of customer requests and that the 9-3-2 ratio with micros would give best results.

I taper off feed after peak blooming to reduce nitrogen.

I believe that it is needed in water culture as the plant takes up nutes directly all the time.

Ph water to about 6.5-6.8 run off is the same. Soil ph ranges from6.5-7 sometimes but not stressing so much about that.

Just wondering how big she is? I ask because I have a NL auto that is 50 days also.

My tallest is 2 feet the others are right around there
