Hi guys, thought i'd ask a few questions....sorry for the long-winded post.
For starters...i KNOW mistakes i have made. This grow was a bit of a nightmare in the early stages, lights have blown and not been replaced, and so for a time my girls were sat on the windowsill as i had no better lighting! When i get money i will be buying a few more cfls and one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125w-Dual-Spectrum-CFL-hanger-hydroponics-grow-light-/300595643642?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item45fce584fa
Ok....two seedsman northern lights fem autoflowerers. They were a freebie so i decided to give them a try first, and save my sweetseeds fast bud for later!
The first problem was soil. The pots were half filled with nice soil mixed with perlite, the top halves just regular ghetto soil from wilkinsons!
Light - i did have two 30w cfls, blue spec. One of them blew, thankfully not on the plants, but it scared me enough to make me put them on my (very bright) windowsill until i could get more, and get over the trauma of the bulb sounding like a bomb had gone off when it blew!
So...my girls stretched, as you can see in the pics. (I called them Lolly and Lucky by the way lol due to the inital stretching - after my partners pets, Lolly is a skinny kitten and the Lucky is a fat dog!) Lolly is on the left and Lucky right in my pic.
I put these in soil on the 15th Aug, didn't move them from the windowsill to my grow box til two weeks later. Money has been too tight to buy more bulbs so they've been under one 30w cfl under 18/6...and i took advantage of the DIY thread and made a "beercan" reflector to optimise the light! Pic enclosed! They have also had three douses of 10-10-10 nutes. I have tomato feed for the flower stage.
The problem is, i'm now starting week 4 and they are both quite small, around 12 inches tall. They look healthy and smell REAL nice, especially Lucky (!) but i'm not sure whether to switch them to 12/12, change to red cfl and start the flower nutes, or let them try to grow a bit first? Or will the autoflower element just take care of itself? Any advice would be greeted with warm fuzzies!
