Topping will only hurt your yield in a true auto. Their life span is just two short for them to properly recover. With photo period plants you control the veg cycle with lights so a topped plant buds when you make it an auto will just start budding at the nub.

I agree that MW2 is better, but I have almost seventy days of play time on it. Even great games get a little stale once you have spent that much time with them.

thats a good question also. I am going to grow mine in 4" square pots. im limited to that due to my set up. I know bigger is better.

So, some of you cats that know what you're talking about, feel free to school me right quick.

Basically, what I'm wondering is this; what the hell is the point of AF strains?

They're designed to flower in a certain time, which means they can't be vegged to the height you choose indoor (unless I'm missing something), and from what Ive heard growing most strains straight from 12-12 will yield more than an AF strain.

So what is the point? AF seems like it would be nice for someone that doesn't really understand the nuances of growing as it would not require you to even understand that you have to change the light cycle to force flowering, and would be relatively "Ez-Mode" but.. maybe I'm missing something. I'm not trying to take sides on the AF issue, I'd just like to know whats good, my bad if this has been answered, I dont want to read through 441 pages, would you?

As you said they are easy for beginners. They don't require much maintenance if grown in soil with nutes already in it like FF Ocean forest. The big one is you can leave your light on 24/7 so there is no need to own a timer if they are true 100% auto and not just early flower like some claimed auto breeds. Lights on 24/7 also leave no light cycle peaks to be tracked by authorities in countries where cannabis cultivation is not legal.

As for the yield, I am a total noobie so I can't say I've done anything great, but every famous strain started as dirt wild cannabis at some point in history and was breed over time to be potent and yield big. So, over time big yield can be breed into new AF strains if intelligent breeders care enough. I have an issue of High Times that shows an autoAK47 that was claimed to yield a quarter pound. I also saw a youtube journal of a single autoAK grown under 600w with 24/7 light and the grower claimed a quarter pound. Don't know if its true but the plant looked super fat. Also that is a poor gram/watt ration but he only did a single plant with no environmental control. Just a light and a fan in a closet.

They are also great for outdoors in places where being seen is a concern.

Please don't call me out on my experience as I have next to none. I'm just reiterating what my research has uncovered thanks to RIU!

They are also good for outdoor grows for people up north. I have an open spot in my veg tent and I am going to start throwing an auto in there to absorb some of the wasted light.

I gotta admit Joint Dr. Easyrider is some of the best weed I ever smoked. I got close to 2 ounces off 1 plant in a 1.5 gallon pot. Grew it under a 250w agrosun gold most of the way and a 400w hps for like the last 3 weeks at only 12/12 under the 400w. That shit fucked up my tolerence for a good month after I ran out. lol I had to cut down for a good week to get a good buzz off of my whiteberry and super lemon haze. The easyrider has a hell of a crash though and sometimes gave me a headache. I don't know if that was the ruderalis or all the chemicals I fed it. To get around that I just smoked it nonstop which is what killed my tolerance. lol

hey ho guys.
I have a problem i hope you can help with:)
The thing is, that i have a little one (1 weekd old) and everything is fine, but in 2 weeks, i've got to leave it alone for two whole weeks. can you guys suggest some cheap, diy, foolproof method to water my plant? My roommates are going home for the holidays too...
You have probably already left and came back, but you can rig up an aquarium air pump in a way to push oxygenated water to your grow medium on a timer. It's pretty much a drip system except air pumps are more reliable then actual water pumps and they oxygenate your water/nute solution.

Check out youtube or look at how the General Hydroponics Water Farm works. I was gifted a Water Farm and was amazed at how simple and reliable the design. I can't explain it without a picture but the Water Farm is set up exactly how I'm suggesting. It's all about forcing the air bubbles to rise through a tube sitting in a reservoir which then causes water to be trapped between the flow of bubbles and be pushed out like a top feed drip system.
