I don't think I'll ever be running 8 plants, but for $16 vs $9 for the 8 vs 4 port I may as well just buy the 8 port. Im sure I can block off a bunch of ports:

Yeah man, you just turn the little knob to reduce or shut off flow completely. You can run 1 port or 8 ports.. whatever amount you want. Be careful though, the plastic is soft and easily damaged.

Well I just bought one, $15 I can afford ($100+ for a sump pump no way). Hopefully I can just rewire all the lines I already have to just go into that manifold and it will hopefully equalize the pressures, I believe the tube diameter is the same (it looks like 1/4").

Yeah sorry for sidetracking you with sump pumps.
Anyways, just keep your 1/4” lines the same length and the screws backed out and you should get consistent flow rates. Easy enough to test running plain water into bucket.

One line per gallon. So a two gallon container gets two lines.

I use these. Cheap and effective:

It’ll take awhile to get your flows timed properly for proper run off. Plus different stages drink more.

You’re going to have fun if you like the learning process.

Key is to get plants root bound in coco and uppot so the whole container is filled with roots.

Be prepared for extreme growth. Once you get dialed with coco, it’s a cake walk of great results.

That pump should be way more than enough for 5 plants. Just use simple 1 gph pressure compensating emitters like this, 2 per plant:
