I am using GHE nutrients and GHE pH-, and have had no issues with reservoir water at all. My setup is sitting outside, so the tank definitely has seen some summer temperatures.I used them with just coco in the pots and dynagro foliage pro mixed in the res. Results were great. Only thing for me was a little slime in the res, which I heard could be caused by the general hydroponics ph down I was using.
The only thing I could mention is some very minor residue on the bottom of the tank (brownish). That was when I had added Fulvic to the solution as well.
I also never noticed a smell from the reservoir.
The instructions on the manufacturer's website say that one should fill the bottom of the pot with 1 inch of clay balls or perlite (I've used clay balls) to ensure proper drainage.I suggest making sure the bottom doesn’t get waterlogged After you open the valves, in case you turned it on before your plants are ready for it, there is no air circulation at the roots so it will be wet forever if the plants can’t use it.
They also very clearly point out to NOT turn on the water supply until day 7-10 after transplanting (I've waited 14 days). This is so the roots can establish themselves and the plant won't sit in a wet pot forever.
I have followed all these instructions to the letter and not run into any problems at all.
