kush van stitch from flash is probably one of the best weeds i have ever smoked. and i been smoking since 1993

LOL!!!

Oh how OLD you make me feel...

So, remember, AeroBella, while the opinions vary, that doesn't make any of them wrong, necessarily. It just all boils down to finding out what will work best for you in the end. But, to add my 2 cents, I agree with all the advice about auto's being the place to start...

my first grow taught me MANY things and is linked in sig, if you would like to see an entire grow of PROs and CONs...

I ran a Blimburn Auto AK which was a freebie from Attitude two winters ago. It was my first auto and ran it in the middle of a photo flower room with only 12/12 for its full flower. It did have a normal 18/6 veg cycle for a few weeks. It came in short (3 ft.), strong, and covered in trichomes. I don't do autos but I recommend them to someone who needs to have one room for everything because autos have come along way. Think Different from Dutch Passion is worth looking into. Anything from Shortstuff too, IME.

Indoor: Avoid the growing period and start straight with the 12/12 photoperiod, in fact we need to take care of its height. After 35 days it'll start showing the first flowers and in 45 days more will be ready for harvest. Will develop a big central cola that will be better tied to a bamboo stick. High nitrogene nutrition will avoid early yellowing of the leaf, and ph level checking becomes necessary. High moisture levels tolerated and resistant to fungus.
autos don't need high nitrogen ....start in good soil like biobizz or something like it....just plain water till it starts flowering... feed low doses of veg nutes for 2 weeks then change to bloom nutes ....feed every second watering
...cons...u cant clone them so your growing from seed always...no control over veg time..and smallish yields...pros.....can grow in any light cycle...20-4 is best...light leaks don't matter...do not top them or u will stress the shit out of them...overwatering will also stress the shit out of them... they will grow in 10 degrees c and up.....the best smoke I got from autos were in 2 gallon pots ..they don't veg long enough for a bigger pot..a lot of growers don't like growing autos because most grows they c with them are under cfls.....cfls are no good for growing autos because they yield very little as it is.....the strongest auto I grew was ..afghan kush ryder from world of seeds....it was up there with most photo plants I grew ....and the yields are decent under hps..

that was the write up for a photo that finishes in 80 days from seed

and not knocking your growings style but
you require some " mostr research "

I'm growing a few Cheese auto's from Dinafem the bud is dank but I doubt I'm even going to pull an 1oz from each. Also don't believe the times these breeders claim the strain will finish in. I'm at 73 days an their nowhere near done.

no sir you require mostr research for mostr yield
I get a pound off a 600 watt with 3-4 week veg with no training or topping...whats wrong with dat...

some auto's do fine with a high N feed in veg .....
if you dont feed it during veg you are going to have low yields ( probably why all you think you need is a 2 gal pot the plant never reaches potential )
many many people are having luck with topping the newer strains of auto's and even some of the older ones ....
" the best smoke was from 2 gal pots " this is a genetic trait has nothing to do with container size you would of gotten the same quality just more of it out of a larger pot with a proper veg feeding cycle .....\
CFL's produce a higher quality smoke and yield just fine.... its just fluffy buds..... if its personal and not being sold ....what it looks like doesnt matter just what it smokes like

Don't believe the auto haters. Some have pointed out YES you can run a photo 12/12 from seed, and YES SOMETIMES it will finish in under the 90 day mark. HOWEVER this isn't true a good portion of the time. For instance I have a 100% sativa going (though its a hybrid, its a very sativa pheno with no indica traces breeder claims 75% original haze and 25 % northern lights). It is now entering it's fifth month, under 12/12 since week two or so. It looks like it still has another 3-5 weeks left in it as well...

Meantime I have grown out THREE sets of autos. Yes THREE. under the same lights. I started with 60 day lemon about 3 weeks before the long tooth strain. iti finished 35 days into the life of the haze mix. At the same I planted the haze mix, planted another 60 day lemon. This was cut over a month ago now. During that time I also planted auto moscow, and auto blue. 2 months into the life cycle of the haze. That has been done for two and a half weeks now.

I bred the lemon and moscow and blue, and have my own breed of seeds going now, it is week 3 and they have pistils all over them -- looking to be done in around 5 weeks perhaps? Which is what I could TRY to say the haze will be done in, but that is my HOPEFUL guess.

So, growing this 20 week very hazy strain by itself the past five months, I'd have zero bud. (I have 3 of them goin) meanwhile I've harvested 7 autos, three seperate occasions, months apart during the same time. I got around 7 oz from the autos all together.

Point is, the flavor and potency of the autos was EVERY BIT AS GOOD as any photos I've smoked or grown, or seen a partner grow. PLUS making auto seeds from a plant or two ensures you can plant a few WITH any grow, no extra fee, and get extra bud to tide you over till the "most potent strain that takes 20 weeks" you want is done.

12/12 from seed does nothing if the plant has a 12-20 week flower period. 7-9 weeks for an auto means 2-nearly 3 complete harvests depending.

12/12 photoperiod strains from seed will finish just as fast and you will get a lot more bud that is better quality. Autos are good for a midsummer outdoor harvest IMHO, but not every auto strain does well outdoors. I can get a quarter pound off of a sativa dominant photo period 12/12 from seed in a little under 80 days, yet with an auto I would be lucky to pull 50 grams.

Autos have their niche and can have decent bud, but I don't feel that it is worth it to grow them inside.
I would love to see that happen in my room! A quarter pound at 12/12 from seed would be amazing!!!
