Avocado Tree, Any Ideas?

Ok, so I'm new here, and I don't grow bud... but I thought you all might have some advice on this. I started an avocado seed, Ava, in a mason jar and she rooted, all went well until her one root started turning a carmel color. I am worried it may be cinnamon root rot. I have no idea what my next step should be. She doesn't have a stem yet, but I am worried about her being in the open water for that long. I started seeding her June 9th. She split at the bottom, would it be too early to plant her? I have heard sometimes they don't like going straight from water to soil so to transition it. I don't want to throw in the bag... but the future looks pretty bleak for poor Ava... I am no gardener. Anyway, any suggestions or help would be much appreciated!

Thanks, there are different ways to start them and one of them is just putting it straight in the ground, but the most common is the mason jar method. Apparently planting it right away takes longer though, I am just worried I won't be able to tell if her root has completely died if she is in soil.

give the water a 10% solution of bleach or h2o2 to sanatize the medium, sounds like you got a bit of root rot going on. could be the water is too hot, keep it in indirect light to stay cool. jmo
