so heres the low down. im on week three from the day i planted seeds. this is not my first grow, however my kast 4 were dirt grows. but i sall al b's thread and decided to try this flood drain system. im currently growing blue dream from humboldt seeds. ladies are under a 600 watt air cooled hood. room temps average 76 to 77. highs of 85 but only for a short bit. but only that bad for less than a hour. they are currently on a very low feeding of superthrive and hormex rooting stuff. res ph is about 5.7.

basically they were doing good. then they just kind of stopped.

other than that, see attached pics. IMG_20121112_120012.jpgIMG_20121112_115956.jpgIMG_20121112_115943.jpgIMG_20121112_120012.jpgIMG_20121112_115956.jpgIMG_20121112_115943.jpg

yeah i would hit them with about 350ppm and slowly go higher as you see progress, dont over fert, it will kill them, however underferting is fixable when you see it

Welcome to growing in hydro :). Ebb and flow systems are my go to system, easy to use and very versatile. I have a few recommendations.

1. You are growing hydro now, not soil, pick up some proper nutes ASAP. Cheap and easy I would recommend the General Hydroponics Flora series, supplement w/ Cal Mag and use Clearex. Currently I am running the House and Garden A/B Aquaflakes system with root excel in pure distilled water, 5.9 and 600 PPM (week 3). The water starts at 5.9 and 0 PPM, I add nutes and raise PH. Loving it, no problems, great roots, amazing development and stout. At three weeks your plant should be on its third or fourth node with some good fan leaves coming in. What's your PPM?

2. Get rid of the rockwool blocks. I clone in small pieces if I have to but with ebb and flow I try to avoid the stuff. It gets moldy and holds water too long. Everyone has their own opinion but I 100% recommend hydroton. This lets you run 6 30 min. flood cycles a day which IMHO is the perfect balance, the plants love it. The hydroton dries out enough that the roots are ready to take on more once the next flood cycle hits. Also keeps lots of oxygen in the system.

3. Buy some net pots, trust me, they are less than $1 and your plants will thank you, go 6 or 8 inch.

You have the right equipment man you just need to grow like you are growing in hydro. You wouldn't grow your soil plants like hydro would you? Best of luck dude!

im not sure on the ppm, im at 1/3 strength.still feeding the superthrive and hormex, added bc grow and boost. Also at 1/3 strength. I added the nutes as soon as i could yesterday, they still look the same today. But hopefully the food helps. If it matters or not these arent going to be in the hydro system forever, i just figured a good time to learn is now before i move tons of clones in here to flower lol. i just want to get these three rooted and somewhat big so i can transplant them into five gallon buckets to go into my veg room. ill get some more pics tomorow.

Plants still not looking to good. Because of their issue I put a few more seeds in to germ a couple days ago. 2 more Blue Dream, 2 Sour Diesel #2, and one OG 18 from Reserva Privada. They were started in a rockwool starter and put in a party cup of Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Well see how those do, I really need to get something going in this room! Would be nice to get all the money tied up in here back down.

Oh, and full specs on the grow room. I can remember everything but the actual size.. Ill try to guess.
Flower room: 7' long x 4 1/2 W x 8 1/2 H (ish)
Veg Room: 1.5x4.5x8.5
Lights: 600w Air Cooled HPS/MH Dual Arc Bulb, 2x 2foot 4 tube T5 fixtures in veg.
Fans: 720CFM inline, 540 cfm inline, 250 cfm intake, bigass stand fan for circulation
Filter: Can 55 mounted to 720.
Trays/Res: Trays hold 6 pots each, res hold 30 gals each.
Pumps: GH dual diaphragm air pump w/ 4" stones connected, 120gph water pumps.
Temps: Currently 74, yesterday high was 77, low 60.
Nutes: FoxFarm grow big (for dirt seedlings), BC Grow/Boost (for hydro seedlings), and AN Sensi Bloom A/B for flowering.

They were looking even worse today. I looked around and determined that not only did they have a N shortage but also a P shortage. Ouch! I changed the entire res today, cleaned it and refilled it with clean water. Mixed up new nutes to go with it also. Used all of my BC Boost and Hormex I had left! It wasnt to much though, not even enough for 1/2 str. I did however have enough BC Grow which I added at 1/2 str. Along with Superthrive. The tray is flooding right now, ph in the res was 5.8 and in the table it was at 6.3. So im letting it cycle through for a minute until I get a decent ph top and bottom :).

On a good note, I had my OG 18 poke its head up and put out some new leaves, as well as a sour diesel #2. And my ppm meter will be here tomorow, woot.

Ill try to get some more pics posted here shortly.

Hey, how often are you flooding?

If you're running in straight rockwool and nothing else, you DON'T need to flood every day when the seedlings are still tiny. They do not have a large enough root structure to drink up all the water, and are most likely not growing any more because the roots do not need to stretch to find water, if that makes any sense.

When I was running straight 6" rockwool blocks, when they clones were still small, I only had to flood them like once every two or three days, because the rockwool was holding water for up to that long on it's own.

I'm guessing you flood at least once a day currently? Probably way too much, and might be the reason for your stunted growth.

Water pump has been off now since yesterday about this time. Rockwool is starting to look much drier, going to wait another 12 hours or so at least before turning it back on. In other news, the seedlings are starting to put out leaves! yay

I stretched the shit out of one tho.. had the T5 waaaaaaay to high u p >_<

OK, everything has been checked. Ive got a 5.8 ph and a 540ppm mix in the tank. 165ppm water out of the tap so I guess that means my nute mix is about 360ppm. Hoping these babies make it through.. :(

The decline in labor force participation is partly because baby boomers are hitting retirement age. But economists had expected the wave of retirements to be at least partly offset by the number of workers rejoining the labor force as the economy improved.

“There were a lot of younger people who had gone back to school to get more education and training, and we thought we’d see more of them joining the work force now,” said Andrew Tilton, a senior economist at Goldman Sachs. Instead, the number of young people in the labor force also fell.
