Slixx, what is the significance of the 950s? I just read your 150w journal and I've seen Hobbes's posts on IR before, (which partly inspired my latest 5x60 BTW), but I'm wondering where the 950's come from? Did I miss something?

The papers on IR and extending/adjusting flowering time that I could understand :), and none have been about cannabis, always seem to come to the conclusion that it could be imprecise diodes/equipment or some phenomena is actually controlling the results and therefore more studying is needed. They also seem to find that the wavelengths that work best vary according to the plant. Personally I think you should talk to the sales rep at Lumigrow, who love to answer questions about the uses and applications of their Far Red spots. Otherwise if you willing to mess up a grow for us, go for it :).

Haha ouch! I may give it a miss! It is common knowledge that interrupting girls night time creates hermies. Yet outdoor plants don't seem to phased by moonlight? Perhaps I'd you introduce the it trick from day 1 of flower it may not affect gender?

Check out my sig link, it's a similar project that I'm working on, but the arduino is in a box with 6 120V outlets, and the sensors can be 'plugged' into the box.
Can the light timer be made capable of 4 different o/o times, ala the rose light cycle?

Probably could be done but i HATE! SMD boards. hehe.

Because my setup is aero I was thinking of combing 4 micro DC pumps controlled by mosfets directly from the arduino board. and have 4 small reservoirs: PH UP, PH Down, Part A, Part B.
Currently in my aero setup the res is exactly 25 litres. which, fortunately means i can lower my PH by 0.1 exactly with a single drop of concentrated solution.

Its alot of space consumption in my homemade cab but I may be able to make it work.
This weekend I will buy some opamps and trimpots to control my PH in the res. Figure i'll start there.

You also need to account for evap + consumption draining down the res. In my DIY 21st Century F & D, with one plant near harvest, I go through 1/2g nutes every couple days. What's left is typically 200+ ppms higher than when it is adjusted

Nice one! Good to see another micro programmer. Seems there's ALOT of Cluey people on RIU.

Temp control would reduce power consumption slightly which is always a plus. Arduino system have plug n play temp control sensors and the 328 atmel has PWM outputs for regulating fan speed.

I have decided to build a 100 x 3w version (14 x 7 LEDs) and make my own drivers this time that will allow me to control spectrum and brightness. Because my cab is for veg and flower I was considering adding 6-8 x 10,000K whites across the middle which suit veg and seedling and run them on their own controller so I can isolate a low wattage solution for rearing clones or seeds. In my 150w light I had switchable spectrums and I discovered if I switch off the 630nm LEDs (60% of the reds) during veg the girls stayed very short and extremely bushy. In 1 case I had a topped girl @ 1ft tall with fan leaves 6" long! Similar to that of a 6500K cfl. That's perfect for those of us who like to shape their girls to suit the size of the grow space. Not to mention considerably decreasing veg time with massive fan leaves to soak up the light.

If anyone has read my 150w watt thread a user posted information about flashing IR 950nm for 1 hr in the middle of the light cycle during flower to increase yield so I may add 2-6 950nm LEDs on their own controller to see if it works. That being said does anyone think this is a good idea?
Not sure about flashing but I am told half-hour of IR at lights out is beneficial to increase tric production. Seems LED IR diodes need glass lens if they are going to have them at all, or drop a reptile bulb or two in between the rails.

man i was hoping to get a picture of the outcome of the plants after all that you guys certainly know alot more than i do when it comes to electronics
