The other side of this is practicality. Indicas and hybrids are suitable for indoor grows. You have to know what you're doing and bring some real commitment to the table to grow hard Sativas. Outdoor in a good climate like coastal SoCal would be an option, but the Cessnas are watching. cn

I personally think that anything past 12 weeks could present some challenges, but the longer the more so. Its not even so much they are harder to grow or more complicated, they just take alot longer so you have to keep them healthy, and they use much more light time. I've seen guys talk about full sativas that take 14-16 weeks+ and that just too long for me. When I can get a nice sativa high from a good hybrid in 7-9 weeks, I could harvest 2 crops in the 14-16 weeks it would take me to crop once with the 100%. In my journal I grew out a couple full sativas, and was thrilled with the results. I'd have to go back through to see what strains they were it was 4 years ago I can't remember now. I didn't have any problems at 12 weeks, easily could have gone longer if I had to just becomes a waiting game at that point.

Mexican, Colombian and SE Asian landraces come to mind. Of the hybrids, "pure" or "original" Haze is the go-to strain afaik.

I also meant "hard" in the sense of "undiluted", not "complicated", but either way "difficult" is not wrong in describing growing these puppies. Jmo. cn

in terms of the easier to grow sativas (shorter-er normal flower times) whats the best strain you guys recommend?

I've been running white widow for 4 years, it is 60% sativa 40% indica, and I love it. It grows easy, and has a nice sativa high, and mine finishes in 7 weeks from when I see flowers.

There are many hybrids with a known sativa phenotype that are supposed to be fantastic though. AK47 comes to mind it has 2 common phenos but the sativa seems to be the one people look for. I believe jack herer also has a sativa dom pheno that is supposed to be killer.

well all i know is dont anybody get confused about CBD in sativas. not that anyone has, i just wanted to point it out.

sativas can have as much or higher CBD's than indicas, and they are being bred out for it now.

i had figured that in the first place. i dont know if i was really on to anything

but i always noticed it was more about each individual strain and phenotype specifically than how much it is sativa or indica

just my two cents.

but im not sure if i believe CBD equals potency really IMO. even just medically, i think we are going to soon find that there are a lot of different factors.

someone pointed out to me that turpenes play into the high as well. i totally agree and ive read about turpenes and such. they can be extracted and tested i geuss according to high times med mag from summer 2012.

so i dont believe that image is a huge factor. it just gives a bit of a tell i geuss u could say. but it helps to know the strain in the first place, not every strain is supposed to look like lime green diamonds. doesnt mean all the lime green diamonds are the best either.

i recently had some Pineapple Express that looked great. it was horrible smoke. i grow another PE strain/pheno myself and its a lot different and its good.
i find that ive had more pineapple express's that have looked good and turned out bad than any other strain tho, when buying it i mean.

so maybe some are prone to look good and smoke bad, and possibly the reverse is true at times as well.

thunder cat chose great strains to point out.

i would also add critical + as it has quite a bit of sativa in it if u find the pheno u want. its a super easy to grow strain.

honestly G13 labs Pineapple express is too ironically. very sativa high when ive grown that PE, and still flowers reasonably fast. maybe not quite as fast as critical +, but a tad more potency especially on the sativa side of things.

Is this your first run with the 47 smok? I've never grown it but have wanted to. I'm not certain on the distinguishing factors on the ak phenos, but if its vegging slow I'd wonder if it might be the indica Dom one.

The way Hazey posts these crazy ass rants everywhere makes me think he needs to smoke a nice indica and melt into the couch and chill out.

lol, not a bad idea. Its funny I just happened to read a very well balanced post from him on another thread and it actually surprised me because of some of the rants.

lmao about the "red hairs" shit. Once these kids find out that red hairs are just the reproductive organs of the plant, no one will care about the hairs anymore

I've read lots of really good reviews of the pineapple express, that is grows easy and is great smoke. I've never grown it so I'm not speaking from personal experiance.
