This grow is already approaching the end of it's 4th week of flowering. I hadn't started a journal yet... just lazy I guess..lol.

Grow specifics:

Location: Spare bathroom, pots in tub.

Medium: 80% Premiere Promix / 20% home-made compost

Nutes: 100% ORGANIC - Adv Nutrients' Iguana Juice Grow (veg) and Bloom (Flowering). AN Nirvana (added to foliar spray and started half/half with Iguana Bloom in 4th week of flowering.

The story up until now...

- Started 5 bagseeds and 1 B.Blue Cheese - vegged for 6 weeks. All plants showed sex by ~4th week of veg.

- Used rainwater for all feedings except one (tap-water pH'd down to ~6.5).

................................................

Comments:

- plants are doing better than I could ever have expected at this point. I plan to flower for ~8 weeks (the BC may need 9-10) and they already look close to what my last grow looked just before harvest...

- So far, i'm super-impressed with the AN Iguana Juice and from what I've heard, the Nirvana booster will top everything off nicely.

- Was concerned at first that my grow space was too limited, but now that i'm past the flowering growth spurt, it looks like everything will be okay. Plants are filling out nicely. (see pics)

:leaf:

Please have a seat and join me for the rest of this grow journal. It's for my reference mainly, but I want everyone to feel free to comment or ask any questions. This is only my second grow ever, so I'm still learning a ton. :blsmoke:

...thought i'd add some more info on the pics in my previous post...

- My light actually fell on the plants a few weeks ago and snapped some branches as well as bent the main stem of my blue-cheese plant pretty bad.... the one pic there shows the splint I made for it from a wooden shish-kabob skewer..lol. You'd never tell they suffered any damage anymore though...they bounced back nicely after some TLC... =)

- The BC plant also has been undergoing continuous tieing of the side-branches in to the main stem in order to keep them up and therefor soaking more direct light from the above light.

- My CFL side-lighting was a big change from my last (and first) grow. The side lighting isn't really 'side' lighting as much as I'd hoped since I don't have enough room in the tub to truly have them low on the sides... but they turned out to be providing some great 'extra' lighting in general which the girls are obviously appreciating!

:leaf:

- Going to buy some molasses tomorrow and start adding it in to my waterings once a week from this point up until the final flush!

- Getting very impressive results this time through = being only half-way finished, i'm truly excited to see what the next 4-5 weeks will bring!!

- Ordered myself a grow-tent online this evening... i've really out-grown my bathroom idea, and I need to start getting more serious with the whole fresh-air intake and ventilation issues. I plan to set myself up with a good carbon-filter system in this new tent as well as a system that I can use to give my plants the continuous fresh-air they need while maintaining the grow-space temperature and humidity...

- the girls have officially reached the end of their 4-week flowering period now - buds are really starting to take off, so I hope the added molasses will help them add some extra weight and sweetness!

...more pics to come following the next feeding in 2-3 days - stay tuned and please introduce yourself if you're tuning in! =)

I've been feeding 5 ml of each Iguana J Bloom and Nirvana in a 1.5 gallon jug as well as a straight 1.5 gallon jug of rain-water.

Feedings have been about once every 5-6 days at this point in order to let them dry up enough before getting more.

Used 2-3 ml of Nirvana in my foliar spray of rain-water - I tend to foliar feed about every 3 days or so.

These next four weeks I'll stick to this amount and add 3 tbsp of BlackStrap Mollasses to the straight water mix - I should get some nice increase in bud size in the second half of flowering just before I start flushing.

- Feeding day today!! The girls got their first taste of molasses today. I used 2 tbsp in 1.5 gallons of water and used it in 3 plant pots, then filled the same thing again for the other 3 plants. Each group of 3 plants then got another 1.5 gallons of water with half their regular nutes (2.5 ml Iguana Juice and 2.5 ml of Nirvana).
- Followed the feeding up with a light foliar spray that has a small amount of Nirvana in it as well.

- Did quite alot of trimming as well - there is alot of growth near the bottoms of the plants that wasn't doing well, so I trimmed a lot down there to get some better airflow as well as force them to move more nutrients and water up to the big forming bud-sites...

- Tied-in many branches that were starting to lean out to the walls from the weight of the bud sites.

- Gave a nickname to the plant with the biggest cola thus far, 'Donkey Kong'. He's in the middle of the back row. See large pic (above)

- Here's another round of pics as promised... please leave me some comments or suggestions! :leaf:

yeahh they look pukka m8..growing sum blue cheese myself buds are coming on nicely im at my 3rd week ov flowering friday :D but i vegged for 8 weeks and they are chest height

Random journal entries...

- Starting to see some leaves yellowing - not many, but some are big fan leaves about 2/3 of the way up the plant... no burnt tips so I don't think it's nute-burn... I'm thinking maybe i'm giving them too much water during feeding. I plan to wait a few days longer before feed/water this time until I see more drooping leaves, and then cut my water back by about 1/4 and see if they like that better.

- Still really impressed with how nice they are looking so far... just approaching the end of week 5 of flowering and most bud-sites are over 1 inch in diameter with the largest one a tad over 2 inches wide!

- Some pistils have started to turn brown already but all buds continue to have new white pistils every day...

- Starting to take some yield guesses and by the way things are looking so far, I'm guessing there will be about 3.5 oz from the 6 plants... we'll see how the next 3-4 weeks go.

- Thinking I'll definitely need a lot of flushing for these girls in thier last 1.5 or 2 weeks... the AR nutes and molasses will need lots of water

Welcome inquisitive! Please post any comments or suggestions - I'm still learning tons so if you notice anything that needs to be addressed, i'm open to anything. :leaf:

- forgot to mention... my tent just arrived in the mail today (see pic below), now I can start getting ready for my next grow downstairs and will have much more room. The spare bathroom works well, but i've found that it's really hard to implement good side-lighting with the limited room. The tent will allow me to spread the pots out alot more and also I can set it up with proper ventilation which has been my biggest problem during the first grow as well as this one...

For my own reference, I'm posting some pics of my hot pepper harvest for this year - it was my first time growing hot peppers out in the front-yard garden and had a few nice surprises! :peace:

Week 5 of flowering ends today and week 6 begins... bongsmilie

- Either tomorrow or Tuesday will be the next watering/feeding day. Planning to split 1 jug (1.5 gallons) of straight water between all 6 plants, 1 jug of water with 2.5 ml/ea of bloom nutes and Nirvana between all 6 plants, and 1 jug of water with 2 tbsp of molasses between all 6.... That will bring the watering amount down by 1.5 gallons which will hopefully stop the leaf yellowing.

- I should only need 2 more feedings - this week and next week (weeks 6 and 7), then it may already be time to start flushing, depending on how everything looks... that is, if we're looking at a 9 week flowering time in total...

- The Blue-Cheese may still need another week longer than the rest, only time will tell. :weed:

Check out this next batch of pictures. :leaf: (Pics 7,9 and 19 are the BlueCheese)

Later this week I also plan to take some pictures of my new tent which was just put together this evening... :blsmoke:

Great pics!! Your ladies are coming along real nice!!! cant wait till im at that stage, only another 5 weeks!!!

And your peppers look all good too!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys! The peppers were a meager harvest this year - it was our first time trying them and I think we put them outside a bit too soon as we could have kept them growing on the window-sill for about 1 month longer so they'd produce more outside... they got hit with quite a lot of wind where they were as well, so the stress level was high on them, also causing less blossoms to produce. I plan to try starting some inside this winter now with the tent in the basement - we'll see how much space is left once my next grow starts.

- I also water-rooted some clippings from one of our cherry-tomato plants outside this summer - the roots took really well and now we have 2 nice sized clones of that plant as well... they're growing faster than I thought, and need to be put under a light soon as well - the window-sill isn't big enough anymore and the branches keep touching the windows which isn't good. One of them already has a small tomato started on it though - the fall natural lighting must be forcing it to bloom. =) Oh well, it's all fun and experimenting for me at this point...

- Another side note - I'm trying to germinate a few avocado seeds right now too - it's been close to 2 weeks and no sprout has emerged yet. I kinda think it's not going to fly, but we've had such good luck this year germinating seeds that I thought i'd give it a try anyway. I have one avocado seed submerged completely in water and the other is suspended with 3 toothpicks at the top of the jar so only the bottom half of the seed is under water. It's supposed to crack eventually and start a tap-root at least 4" before it gets planted... i'll give it a few more weeks and then i'll ditch it. These store-bought avocados aren't always great for this so i've read... we'll see.

I've done the toothpick germination of avacado seed.
I just used a shot glass.
Change the water when it gets a day or so old.
can't use tapwater.

Really nyc grow dayzt...i can c u hav sum claw leafs goin on.
i have that same problem with a cupl of my blue cheese aswell... do u kno y that is??

i jus cut all the curly tips off...is that o.k??
im sorry if im askin stupid questions but it is my frst grow!!

Good to know! I have indeed been only using tap-water but have now switched to distilled water! I think the one I started first is just starting to crack now, but it's hard to tell... we get avocados quite often though, so I'll keep trying until I have some success.

Hey Trulojik, welcome!! I don't really worry too much about the curling leaves as long as they are looking nice and green... I think maybe the heat levels can cause some curling along with how dry the soil is, but the temps in my grow area change a lot (not to any extreme levels) so it tends to show some curling and others not, so it's not effecting the whole plant in any case... :blsmoke: I know that some people will cut them off with the reasoning that it makes it easier so the plant doesn't have to lift the tips whereby allowing the plant to focus it's energy elsewhere... I don't know though - I wouldn't worry about it unless you start seeing the tips start browning or yellowing...
