Bagsworth's Solar Storm 400w LED grow joiurnal

I have been blogging a grower feedback program I am doing for California light works on their Solar Storm 400w LED at another site and decided to start blogging here as well, considering I have been a member of this site for a little bit now.

My flower grow room is a 4' deep x 8' long x 6.5' high grow tent, my veg room is a 4' deep x 4' long x 6.5' high. My lights at the moment in my flower tent consist of x1 357 magnum LED (not Magnum +) and x1 Solar Storm 400w LED, my veg tent has only x1 4' x 4 bulb T5. In 1 week there will be a big change in lighting, flower tent will have x3 total Solar Storm 400w, the Magnum will be moved into the veg tent, and T5 moved out completely. My strains that I have flowering now are x1 Y Griega (Medical Seeds), x1 Tutankhamon (Pyramid seeds), and x1 Liberty Haze (Barney's Farm). The strains I have in veg are also the same, x5 Liberty Haze, 7 clones on their way of Tutankhamon, and one seedling of Y Griega. Below are some pictures that you all can give me some of your criticism on.

I look forward to all of your feedback. Thanks!

I'm growing with 400 watt solarstorm as well. In a 36x20x63 inches. Love the lamp.subbed on this. Contemplating on picking up a second solar storm, 2 kessil h350, or some area 51 leds.

I actually have 2 more of the 400w SolarStorms on the way, can't wait to fill my tent with them! Just got this new device that was just released, it's called Earth and Grow. I haven't had enough time with it to give any reviews, but all my friends say that it works awesome. It is supposed to help both quality and quantity by a great deal. You should google it!

Everything is looking great, flowers are forming everywhere, temperature and humidity levels are spot on, and my babies just look happy. Can't wait to see the end results in 1.5 - 2 months.

What are the red/blue/green/white proportions of LEDs in the Solar Storm? What wavelengths are used?
Hey Arthur Fonzarelli, here are the spec on the wavelength spectrum for the SS400w:

Color Spectrum: Deep Blue 450nm, Blue 470 nm, Deep Red 665nm, Red 620nm, Warm White 430-700nm, and UVB 280-315nm

Looking good, please keep the updates coming.
sgt john, I will do at least a weekly update, just haven't gotten around to it just yet. Thanks for looking!

My 2 new Solar Storms came in 2 days ago and I am now ramping things up to accommodate for the light that needs to be used up. Below are some pics of the new lights andsome hygrometer readings, the bottom readings are the ones to look at.

What a garden Bags! I´ll be watching for the results!

What about the heat generated from the SS400 comparing to a 400W HID? What would you say in % ?

I´ll use the SS400 with a DR60 (2x2) (door opened all day). Do you think it would be a problem??

Thanks and keep updating!

I bet those Solar Storms are nice, I recently received my Solar Flare, and I must say that these are some really well built lights, I can't wait to see what the Solar Storms can do..

budweiser br, do you have any type of exhaust? I have my 3 Solar Storms in a 4' x 8' tent and when my timer goes off for my filter my temps go up to about 81 degrees Fahrenheit with the 2 doors partially opened, and at about 76 degrees when filter is running, which is pretty comfortable for my girls. The exhaust is only vented into the same room that holds the tent so I am not getting any outside cooling from my setup. I think the 2' x 2' space may be a little small for the SS400w, but if you are only growing 1 plant under the SS400w then you should be ok, heat shouldn't be too bad but I would still recommend some type of cross ventilation or exhaust, but you will not need A/C. Good luck, and make sure you post a link to your journal.

sgt john, how much do you like the Solar Flares? I just put an order in for 2 of the veg master versions of the 200w Solar Flares and am looking to replace my 357 Magnum with those for my veg room. Anyone interested in buying my 357 Magnum just send me a private message. I will be putting some new pics up in a day or so, but I must say that my growth over the last week has been absolutely ridiculous under the SS400w's, my Tutankhamon looks like one massive log of bud.

I am now into my 3rd week of flowering and things are looking quite nice, I also just added 2 more Liberty Haze to the mix. Here are some pics to look at!

I´m planning to grow 2 or 3 plants :eyesmoke: (short veg and obviously depending on the genetics)
Two small fans runs inside when leds are on and door opened.
When lights go off, door close, one fan continues, plus 2 intractors (probably E11) and 1 extractor (E14 or a 4" inline fan). What do you think??
Thats my initial plan but I have no experience growing with leds neither tents so any help is welcome and for sure adjustments will be needed!
Besides heat would I have any other problem with the SS in such small tent?

P.S. Sorry for my bad english..I´m Brazilian...Well let´s see if I can get along with a journal, I would love that idea!! Thanks again!

Your setup seems like it will work ok for the time being, but a 2' x 2' space is going to be tough for even 2 plants, let alone 3. You will be able to fit 2 in there but they cannot be large or you will end up with crowding issues. You have an air intake and an exhaust which should be sufficient for keeping your room at a reasonable temp (75 degrees is ideal). Make sure you keep your Solar Storm at least 18" above you canopy and you should be alright! Once again, if you do start a journal make sure you post a link for me.

I like the Solar Flare so far, its a keeper.
Its great for a 32"x32" area, i have the full cycle.. Well worth the money..
Thanks again for the advice..

I kind of lost track of my journal with the holidays and all. I have no pictures with this post, but I got some info. My flower room consists of 7 plants, 3 Liberty Haze in week 2, 2 Liberty Haze in week 3, and 1 Liberty Haze and 1 Tutankhamon in week 6. My 2 plants in week 6 took quite a beating in the last couple weeks, my PH test solution was not working so I went out and bought a Blue Labs Guardian "love it" and found that my nutrient solution was very acidic, the whole time I thought it was at 6.5 and it was actually closer to 5.0. Plants are starting to look better but their growth got severely stunted, and I lost a lot of fan leaves. Besides that, things are looking good, especially now that I got back on track with my PPM and PH levels.

Hello

Please more pictures, very interesting journal.

Is not x3 400W Solar storms
like a lot of light ???

I think 3x 400W HPS light goes for that area.

But i presume you have too much light for that area?

Aren't led's supossed to have a better performance than Hid's?

Hey everyone, sorry for the delay on pictures, I have had a lot going on the last month and haven't had muh time for posting lately.

Plant Status Update: Plants were growing well until I ran into a PH problem which I had thought was a phosphorus deficiency the whole time, so now I have the Blue Labs Guardian meter(awesome investment) and things are looking a bit better than they were a few weeks ago. Here are some pictures for you all, I believe the large plant(Tutankhamon) and the larger Liberty Haze are in week 6 or week 7, and all the rest(Liberty Haze) are in week 3 flower with only 2 weeks in veg.

1 more detail
: I have changed all my nutes over to the House and Garden line except for the larger Tutankhamon and Liberty Haze, they will stay with the mixture I created myself until they are done..
