Ballast failing?

So my ballast has been turning off randomly the last week or two. Today it turned off twice and restarted by itself within 10 minutes (I understand with 1000 watt hps you’re supposed to wait longer I just didn’t unplug it right away n it would kick back on). Today is the only day it threw a code and it said short circuit for the code. However the code disappeared on its own and the light reset. Any ideas on what might be happening? It is a galaxy digital logic ballast running a 1000 watt hps

I have not tried another bulb but I have quite a few extras laying around

Them HPS bulbs will go off as they age the Ballas can't keep up with them.

The only weird part is the bulbs kicks back on

The bulbs can’t keep up or the ballast can’t? I’ll change the bulb n see if that helps. I don’t understand why the bulb would be off but the balllast would be on.
