This is probably a stupid question but how would someone sterilize a rubbermaid? Just with some alcohol?

If I were to make a monotub out of one. Also thinking maybe of using an old terrarium, but, either or I suppose you could sterilize the same way?

BTW: I figured this would be an okay to ask this. Not to get all up in your thread with my own inquiries... (monkey)

....what about spawn to substrate ratios?

With a monotub do I just add the spawn and the substrate, underneath a casing layer, or do I need to give the spawn time to colonize the substrate (before I give it any light, to fruit)?

I think I understand the rest. At first I was just going to fruit in my bags, but, idk, fuck that.

3:1 ratio.. 3 being the substrate.. 1 being the jars
you mix it all up, then case it and completely cover the thing.. light proof it for a week or 2 till its colonized then fruit as normal

I keep my ribbits under the sink in the bathroom from the time I shoot the spores until I start to look for pins , then I put it in a tub with polyfill in the holes mist the sides down and put it in my bedroom oppisite wall of the window. When I wake up in the am when I head out of the bathroom I pop the lid and when I walk out headed to work I mist the sides with a light fine mist.Get home from work pop the top let it air smoke a bowl close the lid. Do it agian right before I go to bed again.Mist the inside of the tub right before I put the lid on when I let it air out every time. If you get it heavy where water is sitting on the sub just twist the corner of a paper towel and let it soak up the water. You are looking for pools.

You know you are golden when you go to open it the insides of the tub are moist not wet.A nice layer of fog is perfect when you try to look in.

After you case your substrate(sub) and put it under the bathroom sink for instance when it is pure white all across the top of the sub take it out into sunlight and look for pins. You are ready to fruit it in the tub when you see the first pins coming out. When you mix your sub put it into disposable aluminum foil trays that fit inside of the tub. That way you will not have the pain in the ass of having them grow on the side of your sub.Its a lesson I learned the hardway.

You are almost about to see the magic of watching that sub fruit. You will peek in on the sub after it turns white and 6 hours later it seems like and you may see a pin. Its crazy when they are about to fruit. You are almost there couple of days you will fruit.

Nice as your liquid culture tec is, you are still left with multi-culture innoculant. Mono-culture solutions give far better yields. This is good for extending your syringes if you don't want to work with petri dishes.

You're partly right. Single Isolated strains could yield more, or less depending on what you end up with as an isolate. Creating an isolated strain takes a lot of work, time, and sometimes luck. Many isolated strains won't even fruit. Some will not produce any psychoactive effects. Some will have good pinsets, and small mushrooms. Some will have bad pinsets with large mushrooms. Takes a lot of time, energy and sometimes luck to find one that yields great, has good potency, and disease resistance if that's what you're going for. You can get pretty good results simply by cloning from your best mushrooms and creating liquid cultures out of that. Still not an isolate, but will give you more consistent results. Repeating the process can nail down a pretty good culture of which I have a few.
Nice work on the micropropogation.
Peace.

I am curious about your stance on clones - you believe that a cultured clone is not a monoculture? I have always found that either isolate works far better than a multi point culture. While I find it a bit more difficult to get a dicharyotic mycelium that will fruit using diluted spore solutions, it really isn't that hard to grow them out after the fact. I have found that invariably when I have something I could safely call a monoculture, I get far more production and more predictable flushes.

hey here comes the fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!! You may get lucky and have 1 or 2 this weekend but by next you should be asking for a dehydrator.

If you need 1 check out academy outdoors and sports they will ship a nice 4 tray for 75$ I got it on sale for 65 but the deal is some people say using a dehydrator will effect the shroom. That is completly false most dehydrators go 140 max and you have to go higher to make them inactive
Good Vibes

I think that if I buy one I will just take the heating element out of it. Moving air is all I want on 'em

i saw some at a overstock store for around $20. they might already be heat-less

looking like a nice pin set for the first trip around. Its amazing leave em for 8 hours and they grow like weeds. Now is the plesure in the wait because they will be coming on in a week like a madman and do not forget to pick them right before the veil opens up. You may let the fastest break the viel so you know. IF you let the veil open then the mushroom will dump all of it spores and make a nice mess. You are looking good kepp up the good work
