The government will eventually realize that its stupid to keep Marijuana illegal, but they aren't smart enough to let the market regulate itself like it has done for the last 70 years of prohibition. Soon Big Business will be catered to and the little guy, You and me will be forbidden from being able to grow at all.
My state is still illegal but even when they finally wake up I could never get a license to grow. It will be the same old thing it always is, who do you know and how much are you willing to pay. I look at it this way, if the government is going to regulate and tax weed and drive the price higher that keeps the black market alive for people like us.
If Colorado is selling 1/8s for $60, there will be people who would happily pay $40 and support their local grower. Screw the government! If I could buy a license for $5000 a year and pay 25% tax with NO regulation I'd do it in a heartbeat. But they aren't smart enough to let me. They would want to tell me how many I can have and make it so its easier to remain a criminal who pays NO taxes because they are bureaucrats and will never understand the industry they have been trying to destroy for the last 70 years.
Marlboro is a dinosaur that is on its last leg, the tobacco is getting ready to start lobbying for the right to take over the Cannabis industry seeing the tobacco industry is all but finished. Those same lobbyists are already at work. Don't ever think Big Tobacco will give up and go bankrupt. I csan hear them in Washington now telling Senators that they should be the ones to oversee the budding (pun intended) Marijuana industry.
After years of trying to destroy the people who use Marijuana why should they be allowed to control the industry they fought so hard to destroy. This will be the rallying cry of the black market. They tried for years to imprison you and now they want your money, Support your local grower!
Bottom line is it will NEVER be the way you or I want it to be! People are deluding themselves if they think that some day we can all just grow fields of weed, the powers that be will never allow that to happen!
I've been a pot growing criminal since 1988 and I guess I'll be a pot growing criminal until the day I die.
