And it is proven in scientific labs. All lifeforms on this planet start with feminine "parts", even us. What the ethylene does is make the seeds more "Viable" which means that the seeds you do this too are more likely to be female because the seed doesn't need to change any for nature as of stress put upon it. Just like how you get a Hermie when they are maturing only this is way earlier and can only result (if done correctly) in female seeds. The whole process has been cataloged in some horticulture books, I will attempt to find a pdf version online or I might just go to my old college sometime and borrow it. People just don't mess with it all too much when it comes to Weed Seeds because they pay a lot for them and don't want anything happening to them. And when you can pay a little extra for the fem seeds why bother with these methods right? I dunno the reasoning but hopefully this info will guide some growers to some fem seeds for their sensimillia crop eh.....

Yea, I will do my best in finding the text books for you all.
I have used seed, bag seed so I dunno if it was fem or not. I usually have fem seed to work with so I don't take the time to do it anymore. But ethylene is good for the plant either way. You can lie the banana peel on top of your soil or whatever and let the ethylene go up into your plant. Some say this works as makin it fem right as you are putting it into 12\12. Haven't tried that myself but heard good things.

What might be a good idea for clone would be to put it under the clone dome with the clones and burp it like if you were curing it ya know. I might try this soon and will document it ya.

ha! you just stopped me from sellin my g13 thai SS seeds i got as freebies from attitude today. Im bout to do that shit, for like 2 months, n then grow them bitches after im done with my bluecheese n twilight hehehe. Thanks for the input guys. reason i asked about the seed or clone is that if by clone it would already most likelt be female since the genetics have been set now for thart clone and what it produces.
then like you say yours are already most likely fem also.

not saying it wont work i dont know enough about this yet.
i buy reg seeds and get mabee 1 or 2 male. stick to good gentics and breeders and you dont need to spend the coin for fem.

This may sound stupid but anyway Is it possible to understand a seed's or seedling's sex with for example dna analysis? Or the dominant genes for the sex determination become apparent only in flowering phase?

So what is your plan, to send your seeds to the coppers for DNA before trying to grow them? Good luck with that.....

Well, i am trying to figure out if this method theoretically has a chance to work. If the plant's sex is genetically determined before the flowering phase, than the Banana Method is possibly a myth. If the sex of the plant can't be understood even by means of genetic analysis until flowering, than the method has a chance.

I would think that they are all inherently female and some environmental factor causes some to turn male. Out of 5 plants I ended up with 3 males and 2 of those had a nice female bushyness to them.

Personally I think I might have screwed them up myself by giving them flowering nutes before they showed sex. I've read that higher nitrogen makes for more chances of female plants. After reading that I kept the fifth plant on veg nutes until it showed gender and it showed female.

Could also be a big concidence too. I've been trying the banana thing, only using lettuce scraps, since I have 3 seedlings that are about a month old. I figure it couldn't hurt to try.

maybe hes bruce banner yo? u never know man, there are plenty of scientists in the pot smokin community. Smart people everywhere smoke chronic.

N ive had cut up peels inside a bag with my Thai Super SKunk freebies since 8 this mornin, lol. Im gonna keep them bitches in there n change them out for like 8 weeks, n well know for SURE wether or not it works, cuz if i remember right these seeds have somethin like an average of 60-70% female to male percentage.
