B.C Chef,Dude.....most people gave the advice I did.....soooo chances are you have just never seen a hermie plant before. They tend to occur more in feminized seeds, especially in the blue strains. I have had both a Barney farms blue cheese and a Blue Moonshine hermie near the end. Stress can easily cause a plant to hermie and since the guys pics looked a lot like when Ive had plants hermie and the plants looked easily mature enough to harvest....I gave the advice that i did.
So chances are your a rookie grower and havent really had many grows. Thats fine but you should be less willing to jump down someones throat until you have gained the experience necessary to give an educated rebuttal.
Sorry man, I must have been a little to jacked up on caffeine at the time. My bad.
I have had plants hermie on me before and cause seeds to form when growing from unknown bag seed so I do know a little something about how they act and what they look like. But I've also got quite a few non pollinated plants to harvest and seen those swollen calyxes that didn't have seeds in them and looked like the pictures hazex posted. So that was the reasoning/personal experience my opinion was based on.
While I personally don't have any experience with trying to grow from feminized seeds all my reading tends to make me agree with you about hermies tending to occur more often when growing from them.
I do how ever tend to disagree with this whole notion (that seems to be fairly wide spread) about various kinds of stress being the cause of plants going hermie. I can't really back this up with any scientific evidence but it is my opinion that plants go hermie based solely on their genetics and not due to any enviromental factors. In other words if a plant is going to do that early stage hermie thing (as opposed to that late stage banana formation) it's going to do so even if it was grown under perfect conditions. And for the life of me I can't think of a methodoly right now of how you could prove or disprove this theory one way or the other.
So when you say you've had plants hermie on you "near the end" are you talking about them forming those yellow bananas up in the middle of the colas or throwing out clusters of male flowers lower down on the plant?
Once again, sorry for coming off so harsh so quickly.
Let the learning continue.
Jack
PS: So what was the final out come of this seeded versus non-seeded controversy. Did those buds hazex posted pictures of have seeds in them or not?
