Hey guys im new to this forum and need some advice

i had a power outage last night and it looks like my air pump has back siphoned my food and blown the air pump

its bank holiday weekend over here in the uk and the shops are shut

does anyone know how long i have before the feed becomes unusable ?
i just added a new mix thinking that tap water must have usable oxygen but it looks like ill have to wait 24 - 48 hours before i get a new pump

can my plants wait that long?

im runing a 20 litre NFT tank for 2 plants not to big there at the start of there 2nd week of flower

p.s. 600w hps

i posted this on a different forum and a guy asked if i was in the right place, thats when i knew. i was in the wrong place lol

Set your water pump up with a waterfall to oxygenate. Better yet a spare water pump just to stir and oxygenate the res with a venturi that feeds into the bottom of the res.

Or just keep it stirred and mixed manually as much as you can or as often as you can be bothered. The more you keep it stirred and oxygenated and don't let shit sit still at the bottom of the res the better off you'll be. There's no way to say how long it will be ok, but it's never good to let it stand or feed plants unoxygenated water.

also , when you get your new pump , set your pump on top of the empty box so that your pump will always be higher than the bottom of your reservoir. This will prevent this problem from happening again.

Temporary solution

I turned up my extractor fan to keep the room cooler to help preserve what oxygen i had and i also ended up piercing a small hole at the top of my water pumps spout, allowing it to splash back down in a waterfall effect 'thx oregon for the idea' . i have a replacement pump now,so all is well plus i bought a check valve and a better pump, hopefully protecting me in the future. thx to everyone for support
