I love citrus as well and was excited when this strain won the cup. My excitement was short lived however when all five tiny and pale seeds failed to germ...

Will do,,,I think I will start another journal, on these,,,Thanks,,,I' really like tangarine's and citrus,,, I was just waiting to get something with power too:weed:

This is exactly why I am staying away from this strain. It is far from stable and not worth what they are asking for it.

I've been reading here a while, but have no clue what my old password was... Anyway, I wanted to post because I've just germinated four Tangerine Dream seeds. My first seeds from Barney's (for which I was super hyped after 15 yrs of reading High Times), and they seriously blow donkey dick.

I think this is my 6th or 7th crop, and I have never had a seed not germinate or be weird - it's always been a matter of removing weaker plants for me. I started four Cataract Kush (all four are rockin' on their third set of leaves 12 days later) and four Tangerine Dream in paper towels twelve days ago, and two of the TD have one set of leaves, one hasn't sprouted even thought it popped, and one has some super creepy inbred thing going on where the stem doesn't grow - it's just the seed leaves opened up at growing medium level and doesn't get taller. WTF, Barney's?

So overall, huge let-down. I set two backup Dinafem seeds to germinate yesterday, assuming they'll take the place of the crap Tangerine Dreams, so I'm reasonably covered in terms of yield. However, that screws up my schedule for this whole grow a bit, so it's a hassle and a half. I read all the posts in this thread before posting this, so I saw the really amazing accounts of the finished product, and quite honestly I would have bought the seeds knowing what I now know, but it would have been cool if Barney's mentioned a crap germination rate with a great payoff when they do go right (given that the only other account here of germinating the seeds is consistent with my experience) so that I could have added my extra two seeds at the outset. If the healthy germination rate is 50%, I'd simply prefer to have that information in advance so I can account for the failures at the outset.

We'll see how they go. The last time I promised a grow journal, I ended up with better weed than anticipated, smoked it, and never got around to documenting anything. I mention that just so you're informed before asking for one...

I should have waited myself - I've essentially been knocking down a ten-year-old wish list of strains to try, so my previous crops have all been using well-established strains. However, this experience has given me significant insight into the truly grand scope of what "instability" can mean with respect to cannabis genetics, so it's valuable in that sense. It's quite unlikely I'll give a newer strain a shot again with quite a few very positive reviews a year after it's released - the hassle involved here is really far more than it's worth. Having had more time to consider, I retract my previous statement that I'd purchase knowing what I do now. I would not. I'd definitely be willing to trade the most fantastic product I'll ever encounter for a marginally less one that was hassle-free, and good Lord know that there are about a zillion of those available.

Good points... I'm actually mad at BF for screwing this particular strain up... We have few good citrus varieties. I was soooo stoked when i first read about TD.... I hope they can finally get it right, but it would need to be verified by lots of grow journals before I throw away $60 on it a second time.

Serapis. I'm starting to hate my TD as a plant.

I flowered @ 10 inches..... it's 16 days later, and they are about 2ft 6 inches tall...... I might have to cut them down at day 20, with no weed on the branches, just because they are SO stretchy and tall...

I'm not happy with the genetics at all... It's not a 'medium' height strain at ALL, would I have known that I wouldn't have bought it.

And yes I have LST'd them like they were whores...

imo you will need alot more than one 5 pack of fem seeds to find a decent plant ,
5 seeds is a joke , All of these seed companys should be ashamed

I've got 2 TD going. Hope they turn out good. I've read many mixed reviews...

So far so good for me.

I germinated on 2-21 and they popped in less then 24 hrs and were in soil in 48.

They were a little slow in the beginning but have stayed happy and healthy the whole time. They got transplanted and the tall one got topped for a clone about a week ago. They have shown 2 different phenos, on has stayed short with thicker leaves and the other is taller with thin leaves and is a bit lanky. I plan to flower in about a week.

:peace:

For those as interested as I am... Barneys Farm has updated The Attitude with a pic and the specs of their Tangerine Dream. Take a look for yourself!

25%THC!
1.8%CBD!

So is the plant made up of 25% THC or not. Twenty five percent of one hundred percent of what the plant, trichome, what? Do people not no the answer to this simple question and just tirelessly keep throwing out any percentage number that sounds good. Isn't the largest percentage of plant matter simply water. I would like to get to the bottom of this percentage claim once and for all. I'm just asking the question but I cant seem to get an answer.

be prepared for them to stretch 3.5x or more during flower

look about 5 posts above you dude..

Seriously... Wow. That f's me up far more than I thought.

I normally assume a 200% increase in size after switching lights to flowering while prepared to accommodate 300%, and that has served me well so far with my closet grows. Greater than 300% will require topping. That additional increase in size in normal grow size would be about 40%, but in addition I'm now 12 days behind (that is, 12 days between first and last germinated seed of very similar veg/fruit time) as a result of my crap germination rate with TD, so the detrimental effect will be proportionality in place here, which makes me feel a need to defend my growing abilities to even toss in an opinion (prior to this, 100% success with seeds and just over 99% with clones I cut and rooted myself). I swear I'm not some dumbass make guesses about growing, I've been at it a while and I need this crop for medicine.

I still have the weirdo inbred plant, now with one set of three leaves (like a cannabis version on Blinky on The Simpsons) along side its Cataract Kush sisters, all on their fifth set of leaves for later reference pics. When it's time to transplant the eight permanent plants to their final homes, I intend to off Blinky, and I'm hanging on because I want the pic of the Cataract Kush, aggressive, strong plants, along side the two scrawny TD's, topped off with Blinky, weeks behind her sisters. My hope is that pic will be amusing enough to undo the scars...

When I flower then they might be 10". So they'll end up about 35". I'll probably have to lift them up to keep them even with the rest.
LOL thats what I thought dude. hhahahahahahahahahahahahahaah

But no, your wrong. Sorry. Yeah, I planned on EXACTLY your math (10 inches, by harvest assume they're around 3ft tall)

I flipped to 12/12 when they were 10 inches... by day 15.... FIFTEEN. They were nearly 3 feet (thats 36 inches), and STILL stretching! I hear they stretch to day 30!!!

I cut off a foot and a half from the tops of my tangerines..... they outgrew the tent, this was my last resort, CHOPPED everrry top at day 16... NOT something you want to do.

apologies for the misrotated picture,, just save it and rotate..

IThere's quite a few people growing it on another forum and they are saying it's a tough plant to grow. Also, I have heard some bad reports on germinating the seeds. I think they are just not used to growing sativas and they will be huge soon. I smoked some TD with my bro from his dispensary and it was amazing! We smoked a lot of weed that day, but that was by far my favorite.

Its not really 'tough' to grow.. but it isn't verry forgiving....... its sensitive to nutes, needs a little bit more N than normal, especially right at the beginning of flower... And it's really slow to start each stage, but hauls ass eventually to make up...
