If you want to delay the scrogging for a bit, you can surely LST her right now as she looks like some tieing down would bring up some nice under-nodes... and it will make your scrog a bit easier to manage... :leaf:

i was just sitting in my room watching my girls pondering that exact same thought, becasue there are around 4-5 undernodes that would love some light. thanks dayzt im glad your sub'd makes me feel alot more confident. going to do some lst on her now :)

I wouldn't top it quite yet - the slight stress caused by the LST is enough for her to worry about at this point. Depending on how well the nodes space out, you may not even need to do any topping. I've done it accidentally on a few on mine and it always worked out one way or the other.

yeah the node spaces so far are pretty damm tight. this is by far the best start i have gotten of too in my short career of growing lol. feels super nice im waiting for the camera to charge so i take some pics of the screen. i dont have a huge amount to work with so putting the screen up soon, prob be about 8-10inchs from the medium. my screen is 920cmX900cm i have around 1.2m of height to work with and since she is a sativa im thinking ill need to flick her over when screen is around 50% done cos the stretch is gonna be reallllly aggressive

getting no love from anyone on this thread. looks like ill just post away lol. lst of main stem is going well, its growing more and more every day. stem length is out to 20cm now new nodes are popping out too but they are taking there time to grow. anyone have anything on that? do new nodes under lst take longer to start growing well??

Hey jg - node spacing (I believe) has more to do with your lighting and the genetics of the strain you're working with. I haven't grown out Barney's Utopia, but it may just be in it's DNA to do that... All LST will do is encourage the plant to share it's resources more evenly with the other tops at similar heights. But if the genetics of that strain are telling it to grow more 'Christmas tree' style (regardless of LST or other training), then you may not have as much luck with the branching than you'd like...

As you said, it's a sativa dom strain - so watch for some crazy stretch as you enter week 2-3 of flowering... I'll be watching!! :weed:

hey dayzy thanks for the post. well as you have stated and you are right with this plant, the main stem is deciding to grow willy nilly even under lst at least 1.5inchs a day.....but the other tops are really taking there time and there is only about 6tops thus far. is topping a good idea? well apparently the stretch is redic put into flower at 35cm or something total hieght is 2.3m ..............how much do you suggest i fill the screen befor flipping? i have a 930cm2 screen. i almost feel like i should do all my screen work in 3 weeks of flowering ha im going to post some pics too so it helps understand a bit better if its not clear.

hahahahaha. lights and timers work lol. just trying to figure out if i should top her or not. ill be posting pics in an hour when lights go off ill snap some quickly so its easier to tell whats going on. thank you for following first time scrog and 3rd ever time growing bit nervous about this one haha

dont worry james gordon you will do great . just keep up on all checklists and looks like you have some very good growers here to help you so your in great hands.
i just topped my waterfarm 3 times!! one last week .. then she grew 2 more huge branches and i just topped both of them last night.. so i can tell you right now i do think topping is the way to go with the scrog. you need to spead her out to fill the screen. its not like a one cola beast your after. take it easy buddy have an awesome weekend i will be looking forward to sexy pictures.

hey dayz, need a bit of help. if my plant is going to stretch like 500% am i going to be doing most of my screen training during the first 3 weeks of flowering? im just trying to work out when i should flip her?

I guess by seeing how much they've grown in the last few weeks will help decide... got any picture updates? I doubt you'll get 5x stretch, especially with the LST you've got goin on - as the horizontal growth will help quite a lot. If you have a lot of smaller bud sites coming in and you have enough horizontal space left in your grow-space, you can veg a bit longer I'd guess.
