My basement is humid all the time and have a dehumidifier running 24/7 and it keeps the humidity at 50%. We got a 2 inches of rain in about 15 hours 3 days ago and I got a little water in my basement (its dry now) and the humidity is at 55/56%... Could all the rain have messed up my humidity for good and raised it 5% for good or maybe the outside area around my house has a bunch of water trapped in it and once the ground dries up my humidity will be back down to the normal 50%??? What you think?

My question is could all of this rain have permanetly made my basement more humid?? Without a dehumidifier my humidity would be 99%. Running 24/7 it can only get the humidity down to 50% exactly... When everything on the outside dries out, will my basement humidity go back to 50% or will it always be like 55% now?? I hope all this rain didn't mess up my basement's humidity for good.

Ok thanks.. Yeah we got 2" of water in like 15 hours and it was wet before this.. I'm hoping you are right that my basement wont be stuck at 55%, I'm guessing the outside is just too wet.... Yeah in the summer my basement is 75 degress and 100% humidity and in the winter its 58 degrees and 60% humidity. These numbers are if no lights or anything is running downstairs.
Is there a fast and easy way to seal up my basement?? My humidity always runs 48-52% ( with the dehumidifier running 24/7/365) and I would like to get it lower.

How are you getting water in there? Assuming a sump, or french drain?
Being low on the water table sucks, i've lived in multiple houses with wet basements

It sounds like you need drain tile and or gutters on the outside so the answer is no
I don't get water unless we get a bunch of rain.. My basement is 700 sq feet and there is no water now and when there was there was like 2 gallons of water total which isn't much... However I'm guessing around my foundation is soaked and thats why the basement humidity is 5% higher than normal??
Yeah my gutters are shit... Can getting gutters lower the humidity in the basement?

Yeah I just think the foundation around my house got soaked which raised my basement humidity.. This never happened before.. Its only 5% humidity, but 50 to 55% is a big deal kind of.

If your summer humidity levels down there are honestly 100% you definitely need to get that water away from the house. No interior coating will even adhere to the cement at that level
