Basement Humidity After Rain Storm

Your overthinking it, as long as you have good airflow 55% is fine. I run 65-70% for most of flower. The only time I’d like to be lower than 55 is like the last week, but before I had the money to buy anden dehuey it wasn’t possible and I had no issues.

Look up vpd lots of guys running higher humidity.

Here is a pic of my garden so you can see I’m not an idiot and know what I’m talking about.

I ran these at 70% for the first 4-5 weeks, dropped down to 60-65 for the weeks after that and finish up around 50%, but 55 is close enough I wouldn’t worry about it.

Remember good airflow.

You can’t see em in these pics but I have 2 x 20 inch Schaffer fans in this room total game changer as far as even environment. My other room with wall fans feels dead now(and that was my nicer room lol). I will be replacing the wall fans with more Schaffer’s for other rooms as well.

They create a vortex effect swirling air around the room, total game changer but could be achieved cheaper on small grows I’m sure with enough fans all pointed in same direction, remember your trying to vortex effect.

My temps in a room this big only vary 1-2 degrees around the room now if measure with laser thermometer, my other room with oscillating wall fans varies 4-5 degrees around the room, and that’s with the bigger 18 inch hurricane fans.

I agree it’s a nightmare for house maintenance. I’d have dug it up already sealed it from the outside with basement sealer and added a drainage.

Yeah you don't look like an idiot I guess hahahaaha (great setup).. But some strains get more mold than others.

I just don't like my humidity higher than 55% and with all this rain its closer to 60%... My main worry is that all this rain created more basement leaks or whatever and I'm gonna have higher humidity from here on out.

Bigger dehuey is cheapest option if can’t fix the house or add a second one if your already at 60% I don’t think the second one would run very often anyways.

There are 8 different strains in that room with the ones from seed having different phenos there is 12 different phenos in this room. Before going led I still ran 65% in rooms regularly and have been thru at least 50 different varieties this year, more if you count each pheno of seeds as different. I’ve lost maybe 5 grams to bud rot in the last year as well if that.

WIll hps or LED lower humidity in a room or basement better??

Would a whole home dehumidifier in the basement lower the humidity? How would that work?? I don't want to hook up another dehumidifier bc I literally have no more outlets/electric available and I also don't want more heat down there bc they raise my temperature about 2 degrees.... I hooked a second one up down there last night and it would only get the humidity down 3% more from 57% to 54%... Still hoping I have higher humidity now bc there is obviously still water on the outside of my foundation... Record rain of 4-5" of rain here in NY.

Hps lowers humidity compared to led but it’s because of the heat. Air holds more water at higher temps which lowers your RH, also dehumidifiers can remove more water the higher the temperature, their ratings are usually done at 80 degrees.

You can grade around bushes and shit. The goal is to have it slope away from house. Get 6"gutters and some dirt and it keeps the water away from the foundation. Trying to seal it from the inside just causes the water to find the next path of least resistance.

I would try either grading or gutters. Grading will be a lot cheaper but will require you/ friends/ fam to sweat a little. If that solve the problem then you fixed things for a few hundred bucks. If it doesn't solve it gutters will be a lot cheaper than doing the dig up/ outside wrap option.

Once you get the water away from your foundation you will actually be able to control the humidity down there.

You said I will be able to control the humidity down in the basement with gutters and grading. My basement is about 700 sq feet and I run the bigger size dehumidifier 24/7/365 and the humidity is 49-51% all the time year round... If no one was growing down there with no lights or anything my temps change depending on the season. In the summer down there its 75 and the winter its 58 degrees if no one was growing with no lights. Why the temp change depending on the season?
