basement room build out question

Hello!! This room was recently built by simply walling off a section of the basement as you see in the pics, only the outside is drywalled and the studs are standard. So there is 4x 1000w lights in there, each hood has an 8" flange and the plan for now (winter) is to run the room closed loop so co2 can be utilized. There is a need to create an intake and an exhaust hole+flange so that the fan is drawing air from the basement (outside the grow room) running thru all 4 hoods then back into the basement. It was figured out how to hide the holes but the main question is how to create a nice solid flange type connection to connect the flex ducting to with the band clamps for intake/exhaust...... My only idea so far would be to put another 2x4 across between the studs and just mount a small piece of 8" hard hvac piping and then I could screw the ducting onto that but I just figured I'd ask in case there is anyone with room building experience may have a better idea.....! Thanks for your help!

Dryer vent. Lowes or Home Depot.

Finish the interior first. Your asking for mold. At least use black/white poly...

Its paper...not very moisture/humidity resistant. Great place to grow mold.

I would think.about trying to get the heated air from 4 1000 watters out of the basement completely. If your pulling from the basemnt (outside the growroom of course) and blowing back into the basemnt yer kind of defeating the purpose. Your basemnet is going to get warm quick. Which will not cool the hoods properly which will in turn not keep the growroom cooler than it can be. Pull air from the basement and after it passes over the hoods blow that hot shit outside of the house. Take a basemnt window our and replace it with plywood with 8" holes and flanges. Seal it up nuce and good (sprayfoam). I speak from experience. Use insulated 8" ducting now to save your headaches in the summer. Trust me. Ducts like hoods radiate heat no matter it your blowing hurricane gales through them hoods. If you can place the inline fans (the ones after all the hoods especially) outside the growroom would b smart too. Them fukers get hot and radiate heat also. If you really want to beat the heat get them thermal "blanket" type dealys that fit over your hoods too. They help big time. They are pricey. You can make your own. Use some type of filterover your 8" intake "holes" so you can keep dust on the glass to a minimum. Dust Shrooms are pricey but work. Good luck.

Agree with since 1991 of this. You need to vent that hot air away from the area, otherwise you will be circulating warm air back through your hoods. Nice build though. Happy growing!

Depending on where you are from, there are different ways to do this. you may be fine recirculating in the basement in the winter, but not in the summer. If you pull from the basement and vent outside, it will effect the efficiency of your whole home, since you will be pulling your heated and cooled air from your home into the basement. The air that you are pumping outside has to come from somewhere. The plus side is you won't ever have to worry about smell. Any air you pump outside will have to be filtered, unless you don't mind neighbors knowing you grow. There will be smell in your basement unless you always have a vacuum in your grow space.I would add more inlets and outs in the room, so you have options in the future. They can be capped in seconds, but are a bitch to add once you're up and running. This will give you options for later as other issues pop up. You really need to think everything through. It is a room in your home, so think about how it effects the rest of your home.

Yeah i agree. Planning every small detail and have it accounted for now so when the different seasons hit your prepared for it. Nothing sux more than forgetting a hole here or a duct there, or an electrical outlet on the wrong wall or whatever. Then the rooms up and chugging along always loaded with a crop (plan your walkways and space to move too - very portant) and you run into a problem that you forgot to account for in the initial growroom design and setup. Believe me. I been there so many times. When i have a new build location now a days i kind of have a "method" of how i build them. This is setup around the general strains i plan to grow also. After so many mistake built (or lack of full planning initially) grow rooms ive learned through an expensive trial and error process how to build them fukers one time the right time.

How many of us have made 15 trips to home depot in one day when building out a basement room because we didnt make a list or forgot to put some small ass little thing on that list and it halted the whole growroom build until you got that one stupid "part"???? God i still do it and ive built alot of rooms over the years.

Just realized i never answered your question. I just used the 6" straight duct connectors, screwed to a stud or joist. This way you can make a good connection with flexible duct, or add a T or Y, and still have a solid connection. Also, i would get rid of that door and add an exterior door with threshold if you plan on running CO2
