BC Northern Lights Producer - Ender 01 - Super Critical, 2012

Hello all,

First time grower here. Just picked up a used BCNL Producer Royale setup.



I've got 18 feminized Super Critical seeds that have been sitting in pH balanced water overnight.



All of the casings still appear to be uncracked. Once they do, I'm looking forward to planting them in 1 inch rock wool cubes.

Any feedback is warmly welcomed!


UPDATE:

At about 21 hours of soaking, seed casings were beginning to crack. They have now been sown in 1 inch rock wool cubes which were soaking in pH balanced water for a few hours.



Now they're hanging out in the clone dome (which has been placed in a closet) waiting to germinate. Lots of moisture on the walls of the dome in the morning.



After the next few days when I begin to see growth from the top of the cubes, I'm going to move the clone dome to the cloning tray inside the Producer so they can bask under the CFL bulb in the veg chamber.

BCNL recommends introducing a very mild grow mixture once the seedling has sprouted and leaves have begun to form. They suggest: 1ml/cc Grow A & B, and Voodoo Juice per gallon or 4 liters. Anyone suggest going a different route?

I am weary of AN bennies. I am very new to this so may not have any idea what i am talking about, but some people seem to think they can lead to the slime. Our systems are very susceptible to this by nature so I have quite using them. I would definitely get your self the ingredients for heisenberg tea and use that once you have plants. I also added another air pump to get six air stones in mine. Eventually I am just going to get a large exterior pump and run that. But the best advice I can give you, one first timer to another- watch your temp, both box and REZ, and brew some tea, if i had known about the tea from the beginning i would be having a much better experience!!!!!

Thanks for the input. I plan on mounting some wireless thermometers in there eventually. It'd be nice to have a reading of the current temp all the time sent to my iPhone. I think there's probably a solution out there for this.

I'll also read that article you linked me to. Heisenberg tea sounds like just my cup.

Still lots of moisture on the wall of the clone dome this morning.



And after removing the lid I'm seeing some lovely little seedlings rearing their heads.



Time to move the clone dome to the cloning tray and power up the CFL.



Looking forward to documenting their growth over the next few days.

All appears well in the clone dome this morning. Rock wool cubes are still pretty moist. I think I'm going to prepare the mild grow mixture tonight consisting of: 1ml/cc Grow A & B, and Voodoo Juice per gallon and introduce that slowly as needed.

Came home last night and was very pleased with what had taken place over the course of 8+ hours. Rock wool cubes were getting close to needing a light hand watering:



I prepared a 1 gallon jug of the recommended mild grow solution and gave each cube 10-12 drops before bed. This morning things are looking great:



As a small root system begins to form at the base of the cubes, I'll slowly begin opening the vents to the clone dome so the little seedlings can harden and become more and more used to the outside evironment.

Wanted to document this before going to bed -- all 18 little ladies have poked their heads up to say hello!

Just got home from work and checked on the little ladies. All signs point to good things:



As you can see in the photos, I decided to move the cubes closer together. Not sure if this will have any sort of an effect right now or not.

Just gonna keep these rock wool cubes nice and moist.

looking good i hope you run the flowering schedule at night..did ya get any collars to exit the hot air,your gonna need it bro if not your gonna have an 800 watt heater!!good luck with this grow i'll be watching.

You know, I'm not currently doing that. You kick your box into flowering at night?

Here are some pictures I just took:



I'm to the point where the clone dome is off completely and the seedlings are enjoying the environment inside the box. Been giving them a good hand watering twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening) of approximately 2.5ml of very mild pH balanced water with nutes. I'll probably move them to the hydro tub in the next day or two.

I need to pick up a couple of t-line whip connectors at the local hydro shop. The air-stones in my reservoir are the last thing I need to hook up before transplanting.

Washington tends to get real cold in the winter, perhaps some extra heat won't be a bad thing! Haha. How do you have your collars hooked up on your box?

"Bumbaclat" over on Grasscity just built a custom SCRoG attachment for his BCNL Producer out of PVC from Home Depot. I don't know if I'm going to implement something similar this grow (although Super Critical is said to do very well with SoG and SCRoG).

I've been thinking a lot about what you said with the AN and your experience with them. As you've seen, I'm giving my ladies a kickstart with the AN for now. And until I run into any issues I plan on sticking tightly to their recommended schedule: http://d.pr/i/ACQj

Tonight, I've been inspired to master the Bonsai Mother Technique thanks to "mmclient" and his beautiful White Rhino mums in a BloomBox setting.

Since the Producer is a single chamber unit, when the time comes to take the right cutting I'll be using a Secret Jardin DR40 with a 125 watt CFL to house my first Super Critical bonsai mother.

Seedlings look like they're ready to transplant. I'll be doing that tonight when I get home from work.



Also, gonna make a stop by the hydro store to pick up some t-line whip connectors and another couple air-stones (seems like the common opinion is that these Producer boxes can really benefit from having a few extra).

Just got home from work, swung by the hydro store on my way home & picked up what I needed. The ladies look ready to go into the 3" cubes:



They'd been soaking in the rest of the mild grow mixture I'd had from hand-watering the seedlings + enough pH balanced water to provide a real nice soaking:



All 18 seedlings are now sitting in the hydro tub ready to veg:

Hey hey! You're off to a good start. I'm excited to see how a critical strain does in on of these things.

I just re-programmed my box a few days ago. It now runs over night. The temps dropped 2 degrees Celsius and the electricity is half the price. Instructions are here ​http://www.bcnorthernlights.com/support-videos/changing-parameters

Yeah I run my producer at night too. I also removed the intake fan for the lights and installed a 4" 123 cfm canfan to push the air through the lights, through ducting, and out the window. Keeps my temps in the box about 5-7 degrees above room temperature in the summer. In winter, I remove the ducting, and use it to heat my room. When I do that my box stays room temperature or a degree or two lower. I'm thinking about removing the light exhaust axial fans and switching the 123 cfm canfan with an HO can fan or vortex to see if that improves my temps.
