Last night, my son introduced me to a wonderful instrument called the Handpan. We stayed on the phone for more than an hour listening to his favorite artist, composer, and handpan maker, Malte Marten. What you are hearing here is not enhanced in post in any way, just a straight, dry recording. The harmonics and overtones achieved make it sound like more than one instrument. To me, it sounds like a cross between a harp, guitar, and steel drum, with the harmonics sounding like horns and bowed strings. I already have my hands full with practicing the violin, viola, piano, and classical guitar, but I am seriously tempted to purchase one of these and start learning how to play. The sound is hypnotic, and hits my soul in a special way. Enjoy...
