Bee keeping with posted warning signs to hide and keep plants safe.

Im planting my outdoor this year around honey bee hives. The hives are labeled "warning bee hives" all around and in addition to that putting on a bee suit to go look at the ladies will be an easy out if anyone questions me. "umm what does it look like im doing..beekeeping" Ive never done this before, Im just trying to deter some would be plant stealer and letting the bee stings prevent the curious from exploring too close to the hives in the woods. Ill keep you guys posted, although it should be pretty straight forward ha.

if your a beekeeper and a grower you should try planting a bed of males near the hive for pollen. then you could make weed honey like other beekeepers make blackberry honey or other flavors if your bees feed mostly on the plants. ive always been interested in this

Has anyone tried this before and still got ripped off? I set up signs wayyy further away than any hive in addition so I have a larger "buffer zone".

You have a higher likely hood that someone else's grow
will pollinate your crop. bees will travel long distances to do what they do.:weed:

I like this idea, I am very interested in keeping the bees anyway and harvesting the honey. Im planting a lot of smelly flowers that bees love to keep them nearby especially near the signs I have up so the bees always seem to stay near the signs..figured it would let people know it wasn't a fake sign if you will. Also some really nice ornamental flowers fill the air with great cover smelll of fresh lavander..etc

Excellent idea, but if you live in a zoned area or small town, check the rules on bee keeping.
I had an interest in bee keeping. I live in a small FARM community...and bee keeping is on the list of banned pets/animals for my SMALL town. If not allowed, the bees may bring more attention than your plants.

I really wanted to keep bees first, then the Idea hit me like a ton of bricks one day so I already had the research aspect taken care of :)

This is good advice for anyone else considering the same task, I however will be in full compliance with agricultural zoning.
I was shocked when, knowing farmers crops depends on bees' to be told by the town that bees are considered dangerous animals and are banned. It's a good thing they don't know my German Shepherd is 36% wolf or they would have a fit about that. Can't even raise chickens...well, not legally :)

i really like the idea but are you absolutely certain at no point in time will they ever check to see if you really are in compliance? all it takes is one time and its game over for you even if you are in complete compliance with the bee hives. what if the neighbors stumble upon the signs and decide they dont like it and call the police to complain? someone would most certainly be out to check out the situation and make sure you are safe and in compliance and no one is at risk.

If your set for agriculture/farming, you should be good. Bees' are considered an agricultural species. If you do this, and get good at it, keep posting about it. Even though I can't do bees, I want to learn about it.

Yeah for sure Harry, I may make a thread in a more appropriate spot just highlighting the bee aspect of the whole thing. "The ups and downs of becoming a beekeeper"
