Begginner planning on using 5x5x80" grow tent

I was going to use the 4 inch to bring air in and a 6 inch fan to take air out.

You could do that but passive intake is usually enough for a small tent.

I saw the filter that came with the kit is 4 inch so you will need a bigger filter too.

Did you already buy the kit or just shopping around?

Just shopping around right now. The tent is 1000 flat at a local store here. Im getting help with the learning from a buddy he's been doing it 15+ years also the one supplying my clones. He told me it should be good but am looking for input from others.

In that case I would avoid that kit and piece everything together separately. Those lights wont be enough for that space and the fan and filter are too small.

If you're spending a grand you could get a much better setup.

I found another 4x4 tent with a mars tsw 2000 led . 300 true w output with 684 PCS LEDs. Think this tent would be a better investment than the 5x5 ?

Nah that light is not enough for a 4x4. Those kits usually come with the cheapest components that you will want to upgrade which is why I recommend buying everything separate.

I was going to recommend an Apollo 4x4 but it looks like they dont sell them anymore. I use a green qube and bud box now but i think they're only available in europe so I cant really recommend a tent. Im sure other members can help you with that.

I've had 2 of these fans and I highly recommend them.

I have two of the 220 watt version.

The fan and filter would work in a 4x4 or 5x5. The light is good for a 4x4.

Do you only want to use led? Since you already have HID you could use that to save some money. 600 watt hps wont be enough for a 5x5 though.

You just need a tent and little stuff like oscillating fan and you would have a nice setup.

Cheers thanks for that. May just build my own 4 x 4 room consisting of framing, sheetrock, and some reflective mylar along the walls may be cheaper than a tent

Vivosun tents are cheap but work great, I had some of the older ones and they were nice but recently got a new 5x5 and was even better quality.

Looking into that now I see 4 ft x 4 x 6 feet tent is only 150 not bad.. would my 600 watt hid suffice for 4 planta in the 4 footer?

600 watts in a 4x4 works good for learning to grow, when you wanna maximize yield you might wanna move up to a 1k watt or one of the new led lights. But a 600 in a 4x4 is good starting point and you shouldn't have much heat issues as long as you get a 6 or 8 inch fan. 8 Inch is overkill but when you upgrade lights or bigger tent you will already have a bigger fan, just buy a speed controller for the bigger fan and turn it down. Trust me it makes upgrading cheaper when you go to do it, cause everyone does.

This is pretty well built as well and only $132

Hey Guys so I decided to buy the equipment individually and use my 600 w HID. gonna run 600 w metal halide and 600 w HPS I have several 600 w HPS bulbs already going to purchase one 600 w MH . could you give me an idea on how to run my lighting. Height etc. These are the items I will be purchasing for the 4 by 4 tent and other suggestions on what to buy ? ill post my light and converter with the links .

i wouldnt bother with the 4" fan, its barely enough for what you want and if you ever want to upgrade youll need a new fan if you get two 6" now for the extra like 20 dollars it will be worth it in the future.

The mars hydro tent is imo much higher quality. Its the only tent besides gorilla that uses 1600d fabric and it is basically the same price as vivosun.

Everything vivosun brand i would try and find something better quality. vivosun is the worst of everything, straight from the depths of china.

Yes if anything a 8 " passive intake, or two passive 6" intakes will work with the 6" exhaust. If you want an active intake a 6" is what you want not a 4"

I hate their fans and their older tents were not that nice but worked okay, but last year I needed a temporary set up and ordered a new 5x5 from them and it's is much thicker fabric than the old ones and in my opinion really nice quality. I have 500 dollar tent from htg supply that is really nice and it's taller like the gorilla tents (it's basically a green gorilla tent knockoff) , it's called a silver back. But for the money if I needed to buy more tents and wanted standard height I'd buy the vivosun, at least the 5x5 I got was really nice, I can't say for sure if all sizes have been upgraded.

Just saw your list don't buy vivosun fans, they are junk and fans are important, if they quit working your tent is basically an oven. If you must go cheap get active air ones. If your not in a legal state or have close neighbors then buy a nice carbon filter as well. The cheap ones just don't last as long or work as well. Can or Can lite, phresh, or phat brand is what I would go with. And use a 6 inch or bigger fan, the AC infinity ones are supposed to work great if it fits the budget. You only need an exhaust fan and a passive intake so maybe the money saved not buying two fans can help with better filter. Trust me I've used cheap ones for temporary solutions and that's about the only thing they are good for.

Went with this fan hopefully its good. Only
purchased one 6 inch fan and using a air cooled hid light. Will the 6 inch be good to connect to the air cooled hid hood and suck the air out ? Is another fan necessary to bring fresh air in from outside ? Some had suggested I get a second fan to suck fresh air in and use my 6 inch i ordered as the exhaust . Also went with a Mars hydro tent. Using one 600 watt hid for now i got 2 600 w hids but going to try one in the air cooled hood for now
