Benefits of Buying Tent

I have not read much on it, but what are the main benefits of buying a tent to grow in? Versus say using a 2 ft X 3 ft closet.

I assume tent can be broken down and stored when not used. Can also be moved easily, as needed, but what else make it preferable to closet?

Using a tent you have the opportunity to grow in a sterile environment whereas a closet will always have the chance of contamination, no matter how thoroughly you clean it. There's always a corner, or a crevice that spores can collect or beasties can hide. There's also the risk of mold and fungal spores living in woodwork/plaster work inside your closet.

Most tents come with hooks, brackets, poles, supports etc. strategically placed, or specialist tents obtained, to allow you to support lights, fans, vents and all the associated gadgetry that comes with growing. Closets usually require drills...

And of course, faster to make disappear at short notice, leaving no evidence. (I'm presuming that's not what you meant when you said about moving)

I see buying a tent as the 'the next step' in the natural evolution of the grower. It's the step from hiding it away, sneakily, in a cupboard to the more scientific, and usually more professional, controlled 'perfect' grow.

Whatever you do, enjoy :)

Never grew in a closet but my tent takes me about 30 minutes to completely disassemble. Once a month i like to take it apart and give it a good cleaning.

I just started using a tent and I'm loving it.No more worries about my lights (CFLS) falling down. Now I'm using a 400 watt HPS for flowering and venting the heat is easy the tent has ducts for exhaust. I did five grows with CFL'S and 5 gal smart pots in my bathtub. And I had 5 good harvests. Now I'm looking forward to even better harvests with the tent and the hps.

less work to build, easier to take apart, easy to hide. really unless you own your own place you should avoid growing in rooms, not to say that you can just take a closet apart and it will be just a closet, but say you have to move. can take the closet with you. now if i owed the place i stayed or the LL was cool as fuck i would build a room vs. a tent, but the tent works, a little mobile room, i got 4 of them.

A correctly done closet is FAR superior to any tent.

Tents are a wobbly, lightweight thing and They stick out in a home environment like a turd in the middle of a carpet.

A closet is effectively a grow-room, but smaller. JMO.

Edit:
I use 2 tents, one to dry, one for clones. I also use a home made box and a closet.

The main attraction for having a tent is that it allows you to have a mobile room. A tent gives you a dedicated space
where you can control the environment. Also, a tent lets you run 2 different light cycles in one room. Personally I
don't like tents because it is hard for me to maneuver in small restricted spaces. Plus I have the advantage of living
alone so I can use as many rooms as I want. Another down side to tents is that they often require some sort of additional
venting to keep them cool enough. Finally, by the time you figure in the height of the pot and how far down you have to hang the light,
you will find yourself with a small plant.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Tents are great for rental properties where you can't build anything. You can put it in a spare bedroom and if there is a problem turn off the fans and lights and if someone see's it it's as easy as "That? Oh, I'm an artist and still develop my own film. I need a dark room. No we can't go in there because I'll ruin my film.." That's the excuse i was going to use when I ran my tents at a rental, luckily I never had to use it.

On that schedule how do you actually harvest anything. :D

I have to grow in the furnace room. I wedged a 3 x 3 x 6.5 in the corner.
A closet would be much better. If I had the room, I would build something.
