BenSmokin's first CFL Grow- PPP fem

First- Thank you to PoppinSmoky for his awesome grow journal for his first cfl ppp grow. I am basing a lot of what I am doing on his success. I have also ordered a copy of Buds for less from Garden Knowm. Thanks!

This is my first grow and I am so excited! I have been watching all of your journals for 7 months while I waited for the temps in the south to get cool enough for an attic grow.

I cracked 5 PPP feminized seeds from Nirvana and put them in soil 12 days ago.

I currently have:

4 42/6500k cfl
2 27/3000k cfl
Miracle Grow Potting soil
water is 6.o ph
spray bottle for soda water/co2

Grow Tent is 2x4x5

1- 6 inch inline duct fan for exhaust
1- 4 inch inline duct fan for fresh air/ac/heat
1- Med oscillating fan for movement

I ordered 6 25 watt 2700k lights and 6 42w 6500k that will be here in a day or two.

I have been in veg for 12 days today.

Here a some pics of 2 bag seed plants that have been in flower for 8 days now. I moved them from the tent to my outdoor garden and they have stretched a bit but are doing very well. It is supposed to get close to freezing tonight so I dug them up and moved them back into the tent. I will pull them out at night. I got the ideal from Ab. Thanks!

I re-planted my ladies this morning to give them some room to grow. One is still lagging behind so I kept her in a cup but gave her new dirt too. I put both of my bag seed plants in one pot until I can go get another one. Here are pics of the new light and plant set up. ANY AND ALL THOUGHTS ARE WELCOME! Thanks.


Question....should I even be messing with the bag seed plants? Or should I devote all my attention to my ppp girls?

I added 10 more lights which brings the total to 16:

4- 42w 3000k
2- 23w 2700k
5- 42w 6500k
5- 25w 6500k

The girls seem to be enjoying the extra light and I plan to start flowering in a couple of days.

I lost one small plant that I damaged during seeding/planting. I tossed her out this morning.

Bag seed plants continue to thrive but still no sign of pistils yet. I may end up tossing them too and concentrate on my pure power plants. Time will tell.

I will be switching from MG soil to Fox Farm Potting soil mixed with Light Warrior. I will also be using Fox Farm Big Bloom to go with the Super Thrive that I am using now.

Have you seen a difference in plant growth since you added 10 more lights? Did you end up ditching the bagseed plants?

Hey Abnjm,

The plants really liked the extra blue lights and showed good growth. Unfortunately I burned the shit out of several leaves by having my lights too close. Live and learn.

I still have the bag seed plants going and they are looking good. They are still not showing their sex yet, which I think is strange. I will give them a few more days then make s decision.

I started flowering all of my plants today! This will keep me from having to move my bagseed plants back and forth...you were right...it is a pain n the ass.

My lights are off right now, but I will take some pics tomorrow!

I put the girls on 12/12 yesterday and I am running my lights at night to help keep them cool during the day and warm at night.

I burned a few leaves over the weekend because I could not get in there and raise the lights. They are still doing good, and I dont think I screwed them up too bad.

I am using a 2 red to 1 blue ratio for each plant.

Looking good! I vegged 4 plants with 3 26w 6500K CFL's and they loved it. For flowering I switched to the 150w HPS from econolight, it was definitely worth the $32 shipped, the plants love it and I still use a few CFL's for side lighting.

I've been out of town since Sunday and forgot to tell my wife to watch the lights over the plants. They grew about 4 inches, and are looking a little bit bleached..... So, I feel your pain. I really burned some leaves at the beginning of the grow, but the leaves just grew around the burnt spots and are now healthy.

My bagseed had been in veg for so long, it showed sex before I went 12/12, so I don't know how long it should take for the light change to affect them. My PPP and SW are showing preflowers, but no bud formation yet at 1 1/2 weeks of flower. I'd hold on to the bagseed until you are certain of the sex. After all, it's free weed..... I knew you'd be happy that you started flowering all plants and not have to do the bagseed shuffle. If the bagseed turns out fem, it will be nice to have some fresh smoke to enjoy while you are harvesting the good stuff.

Each photo shows a male plant, sorry man, I would pull them quick before they release pollen.

Thanks! I was afraid of that. At least it is only bagseed!!

Hey bxke, I left town on Friday afternoon and there were no flowers or seed pods. On Monday at 10:00 in the morning the one bagseed plant had balls and a flower. It was that fast. I couldnt even see the beginning of a flower when I watered them on Friday morning. I tossed the male in the trash shortly after the pic was taken. Too bad because it was a really pretty plant.

The male was in the same tent as all of my other and better quality plants. I truly hope that this cheap little bastard did not screw up my sweet beans from overseas!

Thanks for your input! Also, if I am rambling it is because I am really baked right now. Seriously stoned and laughing! At myself! Right now! I hope this is as funny tomorrow as it is right now! They just cut me off from the emoticons. Wow. I didnt know that could happen! Why is everything in threes? LOL!!!
