That's impressive

Sanders had the wherewithal in '85 to publicly denounce the Democratic party as being too corporatist. It's a little shocking and a little bit sad it took 35 years for the rest of the country to catch on, but the advent of the internet has helped that. Bill Clinton's third way politics would come along six years later and result in disaster for the country and for Democrats and the party. We've won one presidential election since from a guy promising hope and change who didn't deliver and has resulted in the worst American president the country has produced after the fact because of it. I wonder what we might end up with if we elect his VP to office and still, nothing fundamentally changes..

First off, I love the way you blame Trump on Obama. Thanks Obama! That's pretty funny. Perhaps you might want to wonder where we might end up if we re-elect Trump. I think we can count on some fundamental changes if that happens.

Trump is a symptom. When Trump is gone, the affliction will remain. If you choose to elect someone that doesn't work to solve the problem that got Trump elected, you will end up with a potentially worse person in power than Trump, probably someone a lot smarter than Trump, who can do a lot more damage to democracy, to the country, and to the world.

Obama did a lot of great things, but he did a lot of bad things, too. To discount or dismiss the negative things he did is to discount reality and prop him up like some Republicans prop Trump up as more effective than he actually is just because they're Republican too. To have an objective political analysis is to be critical of both parties regardless of personal affiliation.

I know this is far too nuanced for partisans to acknowledge

The only reason the misogynist/sexist/etc. claims get through is because you have an entire media conglomerate backing you, because you back corporate interests at the expense of black people, LGBTQ people, women, etc., and a whole host of sycophants that support you on RIU

The problem is, the real world, real voters, don't revolve around the atmosphere at RIU. You live within a bubble. If it doesn't burst, you're left with another term of Trump, because you're legitimately so hateful and resentful you would rather Trump be reelected than an actual progressive win the 2020 election than be proven wrong.

Ok @Padawanbater2, I went back and read the rest of your post - because the online NYT doesn't have funnies anymore and I figured I could use a laugh.

I was not disappointed. That part where you said I would rather have Trump win than a Progressive was top-form Pad-hilarious. You three imbeciles have said that if Bernie doesn't win you will vote for a third party. I have said that I will vote for the Democratic nominee regardless of who they are. The primary is wide open. If Bernie can win it, he will get my vote. Will Biden get yours? Fuck no.

So logic. Wow.

But I have long grown accustomed to your fuzzy grasp of politics and your willingness to break the rules of logic into poorly constructed "arguments" that you laughably seem proud of.

No, it's because of the tax hikes and also the fact that people would rather have choice. It can only happen if choice is taken away and replaced by huge tax hikes, for everyone, not just the rich.


Also false. The ACA is extremely popular and so is 'Medicare for all who want it'. In fact, almost every single lawmaker who once voiced support for Bernie's braindead bill has now come out fully against it. Even Warren had to completely rethink how to implement single-payer due to Bernie's lack of half of the funding for his plan. Most people are willing to take a small tax hike to see universal coverage.

Clinton was within margin of error against Trump*- true! Bernie was +13..guess we'll never know the answer to that from 2016.
